  • Anyone who familiar with these able to comment if it a good bargain. Advice I have gotten about gps is to try eBay but never got around it.

I have the M35 and it's one of the best GPSes I have used, and I've used quite a few. No other brand GPS in Australia has cadastral data. With cadastral data, the map included with the Navig8r comes to almost 4GB compared to ~200MB in other typical GPSes.

The only gripe I have is the slightly dingy looking UI and the crappy sound effects lol. Other than that, it's a very good GPS indeed.

old style model no lane guidance would look elsewhere for tomtom or garmin

    • Aussman,

Sorry - CURRENT model - not archived.

      http://www.navig8r.com.au/M43_features.htm

and these have FREE map upgrades…. - and not once every 2 years.

Find a TT or Garmin with 4.3 inch display, and these features - Good Luck!

Negative from me now given the navigator site clearly says this is an older model -
I don't like misleading reps. In comparisson table it is not in the current models!! New model is g43
        link for everyone to see
        http://www.navig8r.com.au/compare.htm

Note this was released in Dec 08

        • Aussman,

I was not misleading - it is not archived and still available and covered for support and warranty.

          http://www.navig8r.com.au/products.htm

          and not here:

          http://www.navig8r.com.au/L_S_overview.htm

          Straight form the website.

Also this model has the free Cadastral Data Included - which the newer model lacks…..

“Australia’s most accurate map” we recommend the M35 or M43 products which have the extra layers of cadastral data (on a 4GB SDHC card) which shows the house number and plot outline of every house in Australia. Alternatively you can update the G Series for only $59" - Again straight from the website.

Yes there is a newer model - but with the latest firmware and map upgrades for free on this model… and a the Cadastral Maps included ($59 extra if you buy the most recent release) Looks like a bargain to me!

As always - Please look at all the options and make up your own mind if this is a bargain or not.

          ODS.

I've been using beta updates for my M35, and it does have lane guidance.

actually navman recently had free 3 years of maps with new MY model
    got one then
the my 50t for 220 (at office works with matching from myer/HN)
    its a 4.7 model too

question i have for this model is
hows the battery life (nav man is not that good, 3-4 hours)
if ya make a wrong turn, does it recalulate or does it say "u turn uturn for a while)

i know the navmans recalulate immediately, and was told the tom tom's wait for a while before doing it

looking for another GPS for myself

    • +2

If you're looking for over 3-4 hours battery life, you should skip this.
Recalculations are slow if you're in a complex area with lots of intersections, but it gets there eventually.

Seems like you should stick with your Navman for now.

  • no rep is gonna come out and say their stuff is old

these are only good if you want to play around with other software since the device is Windows Mobile 6.0

they should run IGO or Tomtom or Navman etc. etc.

Repost: So what is the navigation software preloaded in the unit ? Is it just called Navig8er ?
I am deciding whether to get this GPS or a cheaper China made GPS from DX website with IGo preloaded.
      Any comments would be appreciated.

I think with the $14 postage, the price comes close to this Garmin Nuvi 255W 4.3" deal (with bonus traffic receiver) at JB for $195 (that is if it's available for pickup at their stores).

      http://www.jbhifi.com.au/car-sound-gps-navigation/gps/garmin…

  • Amazon has Gaimin nuvi 780 for 169USD, 76% off RRP.

    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0011UEUNG/cargpsrevi…

US maps is preloaded, not sure if need to buy oz map and how much

    • Can't ship to Australia….

  • for GPS, i prefer buy from the store, any problem i can return to the store for refund / warranty quicker.
bad experience bought gps from ebay before, i have to send the item back to hk, because the gps doesn't work properly and the seller ask me to upgrade with so many software after 2 months trial and error then they ask me returned the item for full refund.

so guys, please calculate the time and money that might cost u if got trouble with your gps.

    • Your first problem was buying something on ebay from HK ;)

  • this sale has been on for more than 2 months now…its actually a good deal for the nav and close to half RRP price.
if your going to buy a nav…Tom Tom is def a good one. had 1 for the last few yrs and its great but its the top of the line. if your going to buy dont skimp cause it will last anyway.
