cheaper to buy a dehydrator for 50-100 bucks

I have tried both the maker and dehydrator, this has a more authentic flavour and texture. Ex Sth African

  • I've bought one before and can recommend Biltongboks. Very quick response to a damaged panel (due to the way it's packaged I can only assume it was broken when packaged in the factory), and a new panel was sent straight away with no hassles.
Buying a suitable light bulb is tedious now due to the usual type being outlawed here, the new types seem to be a bit bulkier and can get in the way. Not sure about differences in effectiveness though.

  • can anyone comment if the cutter is worth the extra ~$50 - its just a knife attached to chopping board with a sharpener yea?
also what sort of meat is required?
does any sort of cut of beef turn out the same or tastes improve with the cut that is used?
