  This is a bargain for me (look at my ID!). I wanted to use this site the other day to find info about my grandparents but was put off by the upfront payment (in UK pounds). Thanks Mariyel, it is not a freebie as there is usually a charge.

  wouldn't the Scottish Genealogy Society in Edinburgh be more helpful ? they did a search on our family history years ago free of charge
