Cheapest DVDs I could find as I needed some general purpose blanks. Their normal price is about $35 per pack. I've tried their DVD-R disks and they work fine.

    • Aldi (Ringwood 3134) has CD-R for $6.99 a spindle.

    • Spaceback, can you recommend any of their brands in particular (for video)? Most are unfamiliar to me. Thanks

yeah this would have been hot shit 10yrs ago when everyone was 'distributing' on dvdr…

dvd+ vs dvd- those were the days

      • Or Verbatim vs Ritek vs Shintaro

Most Officeworks stores had a WHOLE wall dedicated to them. Now they are on two small shelves.

        • I've physically unplugged my DVD player from my desktop 3 years ago as I thought it would be conflicting with another hardware…. I haven't had to use it since…

@lucas001: is it on the shelf next to the 3.5" drive "just in case" ?

        • +1

          vs Kodak.. :D

          @klownz:
lol yeah, for a time the Kodak "Gold Ultima" CD-R was the bomb. And then there's the one brand to rule them all: Taiyo Yuden

        • @shmahoo: that's right on top of it below my fan controller haha.. WTF we have a 3.5" there anyway? those were the days… not.

        • Taiyo Yuden :)

    • Yes, my DVD blanks are now in the box with the Iomega Zip drives - 100MB!

With a drawer full of $2 USB drives, who can be bothered burning a DVD?
Do new computers even have DVD readers?

      • My computer doesn't even have a DVD/CD drive……

      • Apples and oranges… if you're going to compare, try modern vs modern not versus ancient.
        BD-RE BDXL is a 100GB disc at $13.

        • Thats still more per GB than a sata hard drive.
And how many PCs can read bluray?
Sorry, optical media is dead and buried, along with floppy discs and ET cartridges.
Even magnetic tape is on the way out.

        • @manic:

Thats still more per GB than a sata hard drive.

again, apples and oranges… A disc is a light, portable and transportable storage.

If you're going to compare costs, compare to comparable - Flash drives, SDXC and CF - which are 100GB for $13?

        • @AlexF:

          which are 100GB for $13?

USB flash drives are $10 for 64GB now. Not the fastest, but still better than bluray.

  • Whats this?

they are coasters for you to rest your cuppa on! ;)
EDIT: only if you burnt them over 6x and without "finishing" it :P

    Hire movies from VideoEzy
    Rip it onto computer
    Burn it onto DVD-R
    ???
    Profit.

  • What is this "dvd" you speak of.

  • The only useful detail would be media code or manufacturer to judge the quality

  • Gather 'round all ye young uns and let me tell you the story of the hare and the tortoise (aka the 2TB SATA HDD and the 4.7GB DVD-R). One day while having a race, they both tripped and fell from a great height of 2 feet. The hare suffered severe injuries to his head and could never read or write any more, and it totally lost all it's memory. The tough tortoise however only suffered some minor scratches and could heal itself because it had enough good bits for error correction. The moral of the story - the hare may be quicker, prettier, and smarter than the tortoise, but remember he hes got a shorter life span, and just don't ever drop him on his head!

  • How come I can not see pick and Collect option?

    • +1

ylangylang55 - First add to basket then go to checkout. At the checkout there will be two columns - Home delivery basket or click and collect basket. The item is in 'home delivery' by default. Click on the 'click and collect' button and then click the 'Update Cart' button. It will now move to the click and collect basket and you can select your postcode for pickup.

Note - The DVD+R is only $7 a pack today.

edit - It's $10.22 when added to cart although comes up as $7 in the search.
