6 Months of Free Presto

3740
PRESTO

This deal has supposedly expired and the original thread has it marked thusly but a comment down the the bottom said they'd used it a few days ago and it is still working today…

So… REPOST.
Want 6 months of free Presto, Netflix' special needs equivalent?

Text "PRESTO" to 0498 500 400 to receive your code. Was told that its meant to be for Telstra customers only and offer expired in October but just did it then and signed up.

You'll still need a credit/debit card to verify account.

Mod: To remind yourself to cancel/review your Presto before the 6 month trial ends, hit the NEW Reminder link below where you can auto-add this event to your Google Calendar, iPhone etc. as well as custom date OzBargain reminders.

  • Can you watch it in High Definition?

    • I heard HD doesn't work through the browser, only apps.

  • Thanks OP

  • My first time using ChromeCast. Had bought one for $24.50, only because others were buying. Didn't know any thing about product. It's been sitting around for 3 months waiting for a use, as I don't have home WiFi.

So downloaded ChromeCast & Presto to an old Huawei G526 (Android 4.1.2), & tethered to a 4G Huawei Y550. Set up & watching movies :-)

    • I think you'll burn through your mobile data pretty quickly…

      • Thanks for the warning & the deal.
(I've got way too much data & growing, so that's why I'm doing it. Mobile data is the only connection I have. After an hour, my available data has hardly decreased.)

Seeing how easy ChromeCast was to set up, I'll now try other services. I got ChromeCast for overseas trips, when I have TV & fast internet access in room.

hah - I thought it was six months of free "Pesto". I was thinking yum!

    • Yes I would prefer the pesto too please.

      • Agreed, 6 months of free pesto press

  • +1

Tried it last time… has no content

  • Won't let me choose R18+. I am pretty certain I entered my correct birth year and I am well and truly over 18.

This issue pops up every time…

Rather than repost the stuff discussed on page 1 of this thread here's the offical statement from the Presto Mods.

      https://community.presto.com.au/t5/Technical-Help-Other/Unlo…

"In order to prevent innapropriate material being viewed by minors, accounts are unable to be left unrestricted. In the instance that you wish to view R18+ content, you will be prompted to enter your Presto PIN. So not to worry, we're not censoring your viewing habits!"

      • I was literally typing that out as you replied :)

Kind of dumb. Surely I can make the decision to completely unlock my account as I am the only one who'll use it and there aren't any kids in my house anyway.

Oh well. Can't complain too much for 6 months free.

        • It's not intuitive but as someone with kids…I get it.

      • -1

yeah, can't let your kids watch anything R18+ by accident, it's ok if they accidentally end up watching this though… https://youtu.be/rouaDXgOkLs?t=1m54s

  • Does pause subscription work the way I think it does? I already have a free 6 months (from September) and can't seem to add another code. Could I pause that account then start up another, leaving me with 4 months (paused) and 6 months (active)?

  • I'm with Virgin and it worked. Cheers OP!

  • Thanks.

  • Was going to jump on this, until I realized the supported devices. Was really hoping for game console support.

Is it worth signing up, and waiting until they create one?. I remember reading early impressions that it crashed often on other devices.

  • Thank you. Great deal :)

  • gotta say thanks for this!

  • Worked for me Thank You

  • Now I can say Presto and Chill

  • requires flash. seriously?
I guess that's why I have chrome installed.

  • "DRM Error"
"You are not authorised to view this content."

    • What rating show are u trying to watch? Make sure you have allowed up to that particual rating (i.e M15+)

6 months free presto…. still not worth

  • -1

Went to pause the subscription so I don't have to worry about being charged down the track and saw this

Our Presto content is frequently updated so if you decide to pause your subscription, remember to check back in often to see what’s new. You can continue watching Presto content until the subscription expiry date on 04/12/2015

So its not 6 months only a month

    • That is because of the 1 month trial. So your next billing date is 4 December and afterwards it will be 6 month free

  • How do I "cancel" the subscription, so that it won't bill later, but still have access to content for the next 6 months?

    • Cancel/pause the subscription anytime in the final month and it see out the rest of that month and not charge renewal. Set a reminder or calendar on your computer/phone.

  • Thanks jonathonsunshine, apart from Flight of the Conchords not sure what to watch :)

      Halt and Catch Fire

    • Watch The Newsroom if you like drama. The cast is great and the production is very polished.

  • Wow, it's still low resolution..makes me not even want to watch it even if it's free

  • still working, i used a different credit card and email to set up my second account for 6 months.

  • It worked for me! Have now 6 months free access to Presto. I'm on Optus.

Trouble is, Presto app is fixed to display vertically only. It makes it impossible to use it on my Hisense Android TV (unless I rotate TV to vertical position… yes… sure…)
Even if I manage to operate it rotated on my TV, it is still very unstable and crashes ever few minutes, making watching movies impossible.

Anyone has maybe any better experience or solution how to use Presto on Android TV? Or is it only a crappy app for mobiles?

  • "Your message did not match an active promotion and was not processed."
    :/

    • I tried this and got the message too after I sent the sms to the specified number

      • You on Vodafone? Not sure if that matters. The guy below is on Telstra and didn't work for him. Strange

        • hah! odd isnt it… I sent it using an Optus number

  • I sent an SMS to the number and got the response: "Your message did not match an active promotion and was not processed" http://imgur.com/wQHgMla :(

  • Worked for me - I had just cancelled my last free 6 month trial, which expires in a few days.
I created a new account with a different email address and CC number just in case.

  • If you are not a telstra customer what does it mean by 'coyuld be charged extra data charges"?

    • It means it's unmetered for Telstra customers; for other ISPs, the data streamed is counted towards your quota, and if you exceed your quota for the period because you're watching to much Presto, OUCH!

  • +1

Just tried it and got the reply of "Your message did not match an active promotion and was no processed." Oh well.

  • I just received "Your message did not match an active promotion and was not processed."

  • Yep. It's finished now. Too late :(

  • It's still working guys. I JUST signed up!

    • I signed up with that link someone pasted on page 2, not the SMS

  • +3

Why is it marked expired? I just did it 5 mins ago. try this code if you are unable to get the sms TEL515TBV3

    • your code worked, thanks!

      • all credit go to the guy on page 2 :)

  • +2

The OP has indeed expired. I tried texting PRESTO to the given number and it replied "Your message did not match any active promotion and was not processed". However, I can confirm this link https://www.presto.com.au/telstra with generic promo code TEL515TBV3 still works. I am not a Telstra broadband user though my wife has a Telstra mobile phone.

  • After signing up for the 6 months I have just noticed that Presto have requested to charge me $1.00 under "Presto - Subscription Sy". Anyone else have this?

    • +2

Maybe a test payment to ensure your credit card details are valid. This is normal practice and should be refunded afterwards. You should follow it up in a week if not.

      • +1

its just a hold, it'll go away. Had this happen last time.

        • Thanks for the update

  • Chitty! so chitty. Logged into presto tonight at 19:00 and gave up. Spinning wheel thingo on all content, so disabled a few addons and got DRM error your not authorized to view this content, then another error you can't watch due to multiple devices.
    Chrome works. chitty yeah,
