  • Are Panasonic drills any good? I know Panasonic stuff is normally top of the notch but I don't know about their drills.

    • +2

They are top notch in the drill category too. This one has an IP56 rating and is very solid. Panasonic manufacture power tool batteries for other companies, so their tech is exceptional.

  • For the price it is, you have to get the battery but if you go to Panasonic web site, the EY74A1 is the "Tool Body Only". The EY74A1LS2G is the kit

    • I have verified this deal includes the 18v 2.0Ah battery.

  • Much better deal and product here

Why do you say it is a better product? I was under the impression that Panasonic power tools were considered much better quality than the Chinese Milwaukees?

Surely you're kidding…? Milwaukee are pretty much taking over job sites. I've been working for industrial companies and all of them use Milwaukee gear, it's good stuff!

        • +3

No, he isn't kidding. I'm also under the impression that Panasonic is a cut above all others.

However, they are usually more expensive and the other top tier brands are acceptable as real work tools too. That's why you don't see them on site

        • +3

You see way more Kia's than Mercs on the road, doesnt make them better just more affordable I have Milwaakee gear and no complaints but also know Pansonic is a cut above. I had some tradies doing some work for me a while back with Panasonic and the torque on the Panasonic was amazing.

          @MMM:
^ Exactly. Popularity doesn't make it best. I know a handful of guys who splashed-out on Panasonic. They're fine with being the "only ones". Years on, same batteries, same gear… no problems. Everyone else seems to think it's normal to replace everything, all the time.

      Panasonic > Milwaukee

      But Milwaukee are very good

Great price for a good drill. Panasonic power tools are the business. I spoke to a guy at total tools a few years back and he said they don't like panasonic because people dont ever come back to get new ones. The advantage of a milwaukee or makita is the variety of skins you can get.

    • lol. I'm sure they keep tabs on every panasonic sales and compare it against repeat business of the same product by the same person.

      It's typical sales talk.

PS: I'm not saying pana isn't good but for the price the milwaukee is a much better deal

      • +3

Milwaukee's mid range non-brushless stuff is pretty average for a while theirs and aeg were the exact same drill with a different label. I'm an electrician and I've got a milwaukee full brushless kit and that's awesome. But i know other trades that just use the driver or drill panasonic and they absolutely love them. They are extremely light and good quality. It's a trade quality drill for 200 bucks its a bargain

        • +1

Yeah same deal for Makita, their brushless stuff is great but the entry level stuff is "bleh".

This is a great price on this drill, and a few batteries which would be plenty for someone doing light jobs like wall framing for a project etc.

I've had this drill for a couple of years now. Cops a fair beating and certainly the best drill I've used so far.

  • Cool thanks guys.. been wanting to buy a good drill for home for awhile.. i've got some 10 year old Ryobi with ni-cad.. kills me every time I want to use it.

    • Just tried using the MASTERS10 code and it didn't work. Everton Park Brisbane store. They have stock.. gah and I just bought the stupid gift card from woolies.

      • Pity, it worked for the drill the last time the code was active. :)

        • Maybe they've updated the code this time.. the code does say it can't be used in conjunction with any other offers. So can't get a double discount on the drill?

        • @sumkp:

I paid online, MASTERS10, eGiftcard and free C&C. Worked fine for me.

        • @vestrosaurus:

Well I just tried then and it didn't work. Feel free to try doing a new cart and validating… Telling me what you did yesterday does not help or make this deal valid.

        • @sumkp: I did it this morning and posted the deal immediately after my order worked. I'll try again shortly

        • @sumkp:

This is a screenshot of my order: http://i.imgur.com/YwYwnjM.png

I just tried to repeat the order and the code is now no longer working. Looks like they have put a stop to the deal. I'll mark it as expired.
