Free Pendo 7" Tablet with Dodo Comprehensive Car Insurance

40

Hi all, was doing the usual yearly Car Insurance roundup. Chucked my details in for a Comprehensive Car policy into comparethemarket and Dodo came up with the cheapest, and was throwing in a Pendo Tablet. Went ahead with this, as I was jumping ship from Budget Direct and could not see any significant difference.

Tablet in question is a Pendo 7", which I estimate to have a retail value of around $50-$70. Not the greatest tablet in the world, but probably good for your kids, or for you to have a play around with rooting these devices. Specs link below:

  • "Please wait while we process your request" 13 mins so far…

    • Same! 20 minutes so far. Nice one, Dodo.

  • DAMN! I'm trying to sell one at the moment… great tablet actually. Quad core A7 CPU (wish it was A53), 1GB DDR3 ram, 8GB storage, 1024x screen, Android 5.0 etc

Even comes with a USB OTG cable! DEFINATELY one of the best tablets I've seen in a while (as part of a promo like this).

“great tablet actually. Quad core A7 CPU (wish it was A53), 1GB DDR3 ram, 8GB storage, 1024x screen, Android 5.0 etc…” Maybe 5 years ago it was…

      • It'll still punch out what you need if your into browsing, email, a couple of small apps. Some of us are on the 'budget/value' end of the market. With specs the way they are I wouldn't mind opening mine. What… do you think we all can afford $300+ Ainol?

More like the current generation of $40 RRP tablets out of China.

        • Which have half the ram… makes a huge difference in my eyes

        • @kronicmacstigator: And 2 years ago the $40 tablets coming from the OEM/ODM factories had 512mb RAM. A lot of emphasis on the $40 price tag too.

"free" with $25 delivery charge. I'd hate to be in the position of trying to make an insurance claim from people like that.

Better to get the $39 tablet from Target. But if you can afford a car, you can afford a more decent tablet.

  • If it works out the cheapest is a no brainer….it's a free gift after all.

  • Wow. Dodo insurance? Never heard of it before, but can't imagine they'd have many people think "hrmmm, Dodo- I had such a great experience with getting the Internets from them, sure, I'll buy car insurance too". Kill it with fire.

  • I wouldn't wanna pay more than $30-40 for those tablets, they're absolutely terrible. Still, if you already need car insurance, a freebie is always a plus. On top of this their warranty department isn't that bad, they will happily repair your tablet if you come across problems though you'll be without it for 1-3 weeks usually.

Edit: $25 delivery?? That changes things… As mentioned above, I estimate the true value of these to be around $30-40, paying $25 for them means you're hardly even getting anything for 'free'.

  • Maybe it is just me, but there is also the factor of a better insurance deal, which might differ to everyone's situation. Comparing like-for-like inputs to my previous insurer at Budget Direct, I am getting a better deal by $100. So in my case, I am still better off by $75, after taking into account delivery on a premium charge of $500…
