yes the next one would be "Samsung washing machine edge"

        • +2

          @jibupaul:

Could be worse, could be iMachineS

        • @Spackbace: a big bite out of my washing machine would sure save space in the laundry.

        • +1

          @jibupaul:

          Or 45 degrees loading.

        Washnado?

  • +6

This is a lot of $$$ for a washing machine…

    • I also thought that it was ridiculous, but when you think about it, it's a (upto) 16KG* washing machine and dryer. That's huge - and for space saving alone (if you have need a dryer).

I'm not buying one though :P

      • +1

Can watch stuff on the 8" screen whilst washing. Just need to add a stool.

  • +3

    Does this thing run e-tax?

    • Presumably it's running Android. Get an RDP client - remote into a PC to do etax =D

  • +6

Why do I need wifi on my washing machine? Does it have BitTorrent?

    • +7

A bit gimmicky, but it could be useful to get status updates on the washing cycle and if your other half has hung up the washing like they promised while you're not at home.

      • +6

other half has hung up the washing like they promised while you're not at home.

Didn't think of that!! I always hang out the washing 5 mins before the wife's scheduled to come home :/

        • +2

Even more reason not to buy it!

        • +2

They know though….."why isn't it dry, it's been sunny all day….."

        • @Coops1:

Wait for a deal on a dryer.

      • maybe you could run it remotely??? I don't know.

    • it will send you email if it has finished with the laundry. Or you can watch movie while washing?

    • Maybe it will give DJs something to do during the day? New definition of "spinning"

  • +12

Why do you need an app to operate your washing machine? Whats wrong with using the physical buttons on the machine? This is a solution to a problem that doesnt exist.

  • 10kg/7kg for $1597

Even if I was in the market, rompa whats the extra $700 get me?!

    • +1
      • It's faster (1200rpm / 1100rpm)
      • An 8" LED Screen, your one has a jog dial, that's stone-age technology.
      • It's 7KG heavier (107KG / 102KG) (!!!)
      • It has a energy rating of .5 more (4.0 to 3.5)

And many more minute differences that I can't justify..

      • +1

Samsung's bottom end washers are 1200 rpm now

  • 11 year warranty???

  • +2

With electricity prices these days, if I'm buying a dryer I'm buying a heat pump. Pretty sure AEG are bringing out a washer dryer combo with heat pump dryer - first in Australia i believe.

    • Was looking for that sort of combo recently and could not find anything .. also I'm stuck with a 800x600 size under bench space which is gonna make it hard.

      • +2

I'd try to go up to 1024x768 at least…

    • Do T they take ages? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of using a dryer? (I would only use one if I was in a hurry, otherwise I would just hang stuff out)

  • +18

    Will this launder BitCoins?

  • +3

If it can wash, dry and fold, I am ready to part with my money.

    • It'll dry it in the middle of a wash cycle if you don't mind a bit of charring here and there.

    • can be used for money laundering as well

      • return rate might be a bit low. definitely volatile…

    • For one of those you need to mail order from overseas

  • +2

I'm not sure if I would want to buy another samsung washing machine ever again.

Yeah but who buys a Top-Loader these days? I have a cheapie Samsung Front-Loader now a couple of years old and it's brilliant. Cannot fault it and in fact performs better than the $3000 15+ year old ASKO it replaced when it was new!

      • Samsung is good at copying then improving on it.

      • +1

Top loaders have their pros like front loaders do too but what I was most unhappy with the washing machine is the way samsung handled the recall.

      • 15 years is a long time though, I am sure a new asko will be great.

I took a punt on the bottom of TBH e range Samsung too so I may have the same one as you as it was 2 years ago, but reliability wise I am just expecting it to go any time. I spoke to a couple of washer repairers and They said the LG models were a bit dearer but the Samsung's were terrible compared to them

        • Yeah, possibly but we put a VERY expensive fully-integrated XXL Miele Dishwasher into our new-build a few years ago and it died a few months after the warranty ran out! Extremely disappointed for what's touted as a premium German-built product so much so that we're no longer bothering with expensive appliances when these cheapies are just so good nowadays. I have to say that Miele were good enough to fix it for free BUT that's not the point, it just shouldn't have broken down at all! Just proves that even top-end stuff can have a poor design (condensation entered & pooled in the control panel believe it or not!) so I can no longer see the point and prefer to simply buy cheap stuff with a good warranty instead.

Problem with buying ASKO nowadyas is the fact that they're no longer Swedish-built. They moved to China a few years back where their quality took a dive but as per all manufacturers I'm sure they'll get back on their feet again. Whether they're quick enough to then compete with the already great quality of this cheap stuff only time will tell.

        • +1

@SteveAndBelle: yeah I have to agree, my opinion on this at the moment is that you can no longer buy quality. Every company is having to offshore and cut corners to stay competitive. A friend had a Smeg $1500 dishwasher which went after 5 years, and it was 376 for the part, 200 for the labour, was only then warranted for 3 months. Basically an unrepairable appliance. Instead we got a bottom of the line S/S Bosch delivered and installed for 580 with warranty.

The thing that bothers me is people replacing their appliance when they still work just because they are bit old, if only everyone was so lucky. Fair enough if you are moving house, but just for the sake of it. I bet if it was possible to measure the old units would still outlast the new ones

  • Water and computers in the same big tub. I can't see anything going wrong with that.

  • +2

WiFi so it can connect to Skynet.

  • please explain… why on earth does washing machine needs a Wifi?? and please don't say you can play games on it

    • Just like many things we buy on ozbargain. Who needs them?

  • The touch screen is painful and capacitive screen too. Can't image with wet hands or something that it would work. And when the screen goes can't use the washer anymore.

  • +2

    It weighs over 100kg… WTF??!!

If you have to move, good luck getting your mates to help you move it. ;)

  • Resolution please…

  • How long until I can play Doom on this thing?

  • 11 year parts warranty, so based on reviews about 44 wash/dry cycles.

  • Key thing with washer/dryers is that the drying capacity is half the washing capacity so if you want to do a full wash dry load you can only half fill it. Drying uses water (up to half the water a standard wash load uses), and a full wash dry load would take around 4 hours.

  • I will buy this if I win lotto this saturday..

    • +1

Only if it's still on special, you wouldn't pay full rrp, right?

      • OzBargainers, and now my bargaining begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall pay no RRP, hold no discounts, post no spam. I shall skip no deals and buy no fake deals. I shall live and die as bargainer. I can be the lurker in the forum. I can be the messenger of the deals. I am bargainer that live the realms of OzBargain. I pledge my life and honor to the OzBargain, from my first deal and all the deals to come.
