TARGET: Wii Component Cables with 2GB memory card $12.88 - Wii Charge and Wheel Pack $14.88

150

A lot of people (myself included) have been getting Nintendo Wii's cheap or free with various promotions (thanks Panasonic) recently.

I just got back from my local Mall (Robina, QLD), and found 2 deals at Target that I thought were pretty good.

First up, a Component cable (to activate 480p output which is a slight improvement over the interlaced output via included composit cable) with bonus 2GB SD memory card.
Was $30, now $12.88.
Cheapest I could find at Kmart/JB Hi Fi was $27 just for the cable alone.

Secondly Target also have a 2-remote charging dock (powered by USB on rear of Wii), with 2 rechargable batteries for your remotes, plus a steering wheel.
$14.88 down from $40.

See photo for more details.

  • compared to ebay price, pretty average. Compared to target price, pretty good :_)

    • Yeah I didnt think to check eBay as I wanted the stuff immediately.. I bought a black 3rd party Wii remote for $50 from Kmart, which is the thing I really wanted by tonight so we can multiplay..

  • You can get the Wii component cable from DX for $5 delivered. Works fine.

But good prices nonetheless…thanks for the post.

    • What or where is DX?

      • dealextreme.com

  • Is this also in NSW?

    • yes its in NSW, check your local target stores

  • I got my cable from Kmart… $10
    But this is still good.

    • The same cable?

      • not exactly the same cable, but still component cable, and quality is pretty good.

  • FYI, I saw the cable/SD card package at the Carindale (Brisbane) store too for the same reduced price - or was it $14.88 - I can't quite remember.

  • FYI I have bought a generic Componet cable for the wii and I found that it is much less suprior than the original wii ones.

Ive used both on my TV and by far the Original Wii componet cables deliver much quality pictures compared to the cheap copies.

    Just my 2cents.

    • Yep, I ended up buying a genuine Nintendo one after originally buying a generic. The genuine Wii component cable retails for $49.95 but the best price I managed to find was $39.95 at Toys R Us.

Still, the original deal is worth a try, mainly because it comes with the SD card, which could at least be used in your camera if the cable is junk.

      • There is a noticable improvement between the original composit cable, and this new component cable (on a Panasonic 54" 1080p plasma).

The image is crisper (less fuzzy), colours appear brighter, text is nicer to read.

However I cant say how it compares to a genuine Wii component cable.

  • Good price for local and if you want it now. Not so good if you don't mind waiting for DX to ship. Had a DX cable since I got my Wii a year ago. I strongly disagree with the ops statement about component vs composite of "slight improvement". It is not just the resolution but the color bleeding you get with composite that gives everything that fuzzy look. Smallish text via composite is almost imposable to read. Read the same text via component and you will really see the difference. For benefit of the not so tech savi reader.. Composite = Yellow,Red,White cable. Component = Red,Green,Blue,Red,White cable.
