I'm not an expert, But i know newer engines which have a DPF (ie VW dieselgate cars) will require HPR5, I think also HPR5 is considered long life.
DPF = Diesel particulate filter. A diesel particulate filter (or DPF) is a device designed to remove diesel particulate matter or soot from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine.
Penrite reckon the HPR-5 is NOT compatible for DPFs, the Everyday doesn't explicitly say it is or is not compatible though.
Most dpf cars require a c3 or c4 or c5 spec oil. This covers b3 and b4 which means it can suck up diesel soot etc. But I would not run this with a dpf.
According to Penrite, the difference is that the HPR-5 has "Full Zinc" and their "Extra 10" technology in it. The Everyday is a … Everyday oil. Would one be able to tell the difference? I'd doubt it.
Both the HPR-5 and this oil would be group 3 "synthetic" oils anyway though. Penrite only do PAO/Ether (group 4/5) in their 10 Tenths line.
This is still pretty cheap for synthetic (group 3) oil anyway, and I'd be on to it if I hadn't gotten synthetic oil for $5.40/L a few weeks back.
Too thin for summer - save fuel at the expense of your engine life.
Just wondering how this is different from full synthetic HPR-5?

I know it's 5w-40 not 30, but why such a huge price difference?
