TomTom GO 750 GPS $339 @ Myer until Jan 26

200

Just bought a TomTom Go 750 GPS from Myer Hurstville for $339. Normally selling at $399, sticker on packaging was showing $449 (probably RRP).

Cheapest price online (checked Staticice and Shopbot) is about $378.

This item was tagged as part of the Stocktake Sale, and was shown as already discounted by 15% off the normal price. Asked the sales guy, and he said he only had 2 units in stock (I bought one of them) but he checked and said that there was still plenty of stock in the warehouse, so presumably you could buy at the sale price and have it ordered in from the warehouse. Apparently the price reverts back to normal after Jan 26.

From my limited research, this model has improved features from the outgoing TomTom GO 730, including a better mount, voice command interface, and IQ routes. It looks like it has the latest 2009 Aussie maps too. Full product specs are here: http://www.tomtom.com/products/product.php?ID=1013&Category=…

Might be a good time to bag a bargain on one of the better featured and value for money GPS units out there (my personal opinion, no affiliation with anyone)

  • why not get a new nokia smart phone with GPS built-in. The Nokia Navigation software is free now!

    • Is the data free?

Data is not necessary to use Nokia GPS.

        • on the spot. consumers have misconception about nokia satnav/GPS. Just remember many phones have satnav/GPS built in. SO you don't need to use A-GPS( another version of GPS using mobile carrier data).

    • because tomtom navigation software is awesome, really nice stuff

  • anyone confirmed at another myer store if so may be worth and office works match for 5% saving

  • "From my limited research, this model has improved features from the outgoing TomTom GO 730, including a better mount, voice command interface, and IQ routes"

I have the go730 and it has all the features you mentioned there…

    • Your GO 730 has a better mount than the GO 730? Woah dude…headspin

      • hmmmmm read it again….the first quote is from the op, saying that the new 750 supposedly has improved features over the old 730………..however, winter, who has the old 730, says that the 730 does have those features.
        no headspin….

I think waywardone is having a headspin from too many drugs.

@winter: You can never have too many drugs… :P
I think winter said (and I quote) "I have the go730 and it has all the features you mentioned there…"
One of the features mentioned was "including a better mount"
Ergo the go730 already has a better mount (than the go730). (QED)
I stand by my headspin :P

  • It's $339 until the 26th. Can confirm that it's for all stores. It was that price since boxing day ;)

Also TomTom has a 30 day latest map guarantee where as Navman has a promotion going on now for all MY series which gives 3YRS of map downloads.

    • worth a trip to office works to get it for $312

Might be worth checking out the GO950 aswell. They were going for around $449 if memory serves me right.

    • I think that price is correct. I actually bought a GO730 at Myer Eastgardens earlier this month. Paid $249 for it. Great price for a great device. Haven't had any issues and better than my previous Navman. Satellite picks up quite quickly and instructions are clear. I contemplated the 730, 750 and the 950 but decided that for what I need it for, occasional use, the 730 does more than what I need it for.

  • The Go720/730 (identical hardware) are far superior to the 740 & 750. Sure they dont have the new navcore 9 (but not everyone likes the new look). Here is a quick list of features that the 720/730 have that the 750 does not:
-FM tx (allows you to have the tomtom go thru the radio)
-ipod connection (you can connect and control an ipod connected directly to the 720/730) and also possibly play it thru the radio. you will need the ipod to tomotom connect cable though.
    -remote control
Seems tomtom are going backwards with the feature set of the new high end units.

  • some stores quoting 394 eg southland

    • myer melbourne is quoting 339

  • Price in the Myers stores in Canberra $389

  • thx mad1dude. Just bought this one from officeworks for $322.25 as they give me 5% off the Myer price.
