Tefal Actifry Air Fryer - $135.20 @ The Good Guys eBay

180
CTGG20

These Actifry's have dropped in price a lot since the Tefal patent expired and copycat products have flooded the market.

$169 is already a good price, but with the 20% off it comes down to $135.20.

Use CODE CTGG20 at checkout for 20% off deal

I like them, but I do find the removable lid tends to break on the hinge if you wash it regularly in the dishwasher…

any comments on how do they compare to philips airfry?
can this unit cook a whole chicken?

    • In short no, unless you want to takethe rotating blade out and leave a hole in the middle for fat to drip down into the bottom base of the fryer

    • This can't cook a whole chicken unless you cut it into quarters.

I do 2 x chicken marylands and they go ok (though the smaller ones cook better than the big ones)

    • This is stir fry type, not airfry

      cook longer compare to airfry

      • sorry but this unit name is Air Fryer? are you sure phillips one is faster?

        • +3

i owned both before, and this is for stir fry type, only benefit it could stir fry vegetables. It got s spatula to keep on turning (look at bottom post, stirrer broken)

each time u cook, u need minimum one teaspoon of oil, air fry doesn't need that

this one is very noisy too

I am not sure why it call air fry, i got tricked into it.

        • @edgar28:

Hmm well I disagree you need minimum 1 teaspoon of oil.

Anything that comes with fat or oil already, you need zero extra oil. Eg. Chicken wings, frozen chips.

Yes it does have a stirrer which means the food gets cooked evenly. The stirrer can break up very fragile food like fish.

          It's not for everyones taste.

Take advantage of the 30 day money back offer:

        • @GreatWhiteHunter:

u might be right, i only used it once…. and quickly read the instruction that stated 1 teaspoon of oil

i still prefer airfry than activefry

  • Is this easy to clean? Can you chuck foil in there and throw it all in the bin when youre done without having to ever wash it?

    • +2

unit is designed for air flow around the food. Foil would stop the convective air.

    • +2

Adding foil will definitely stop the cooking process. DO NOT ADD FOIL

The top lid and also the food basket and the stirrer all remove.

They are supposed to be dishwasher friendly but the top lid does tend to break after 6 months of regular dishwasher use.

Once you remove those 3 you can pretty easily clean the insides.

I would say it isn't that hard to clean but be careful with the top lid…

    • This is the lid that I am saying breaks a lot

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Tefal-Lid-SS-991271-For-Actifry-F…

If it does break during the warranty period, Tefal will send you a replacement…

    • it's stir fry type, it might stir the foil around together

  • This or the Aldi Air Fryer from last week?

  • There is also a new Tefal air fryer that is supposedly the fastest air fryer you can buy

    http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/tefal-actifry-xl-express-black…

At nearly double the price I'll stick with the older model till this new one comes down…

  • I had one of these for years and used it all the time. I routinely overloaded it though, usually putting 1.25 to 1.5 kg in, even though it's a 1kg rated product. When I'd finally killed it (the stirrer stopped working) I replaced it with the 1.5kg model.

They make perfect fat free chips, and perfect chicken wings. The bigger model has a better design, but is much more expensive. I got mine on a 50% off sale at Myer.

  • I'm interested in one of these.

I watched some videos or people cooking chips and though they said they tasted good I thought they looked a bit average. They appeared more like chips that had been baked in the over rather than chips that were deep fried.

    • +1

Chips do taste more like oven cooked than deep fried. As someone said above, chicken wings go great.
I find french fry style chips are nicer than the thick style

I use zero extra oil for everything I cook and it goes well.

Tefal actually have a 30 day money back guarantee until Xmas - if you try it and don't like it, return it to them within 30 days for your money back (you pay return shipping).

      http://www.tefal.com.au/medias/SEB-182-Actifry-v1.pdf?contex…

You have to think a few lightly used Actifry's are being flogged off by Tefal - maybe via Grays Online or similar…

  • so who does this compare with the Aldi one ? does it cook a whole chicken the Aldi one??

    • -3
