A word of caution

The developer's have announced that they will be implementing stat-boosted weapons as a micro-transaction. This will be called the Black Market Update.

So the way this works is you get a drop in-game (a safe) and then you purchase a drill (can only be purchased from the Steam Market; you can use the drill on the safe and get a weapon or trade the drill to another player) and then a selection of weapons will come up and spiral around until one weapon is selected (a la CSGO); these gun skins will affect your stats in-game.

Example of a stat-boosted weapon. Once you get a weapon you can also add modifications to it to further increase its stats.

Current prices:
Crimefest 2 Drill $2.93 US~
Crimefest 2 Safe $0.20 US~
Sputnik Drill $3.07 US~
Sputnik Safe $0.48 US~

The devs stated 2 years ago that the game won't have micro-transactions.
If you're okay with this update and don't think it's a problem; you better hope this doesn't set a precedent for future updates.

Yep, I feel this may be the nail in the coffin. They've been pretty bad devs for a while now, especially to the console community. On one hand this isn't a big deal (stat boosted weapons) since you're only versing AI, on the other hand purchasable-boosted weapons shouldn't be in any game except a F2P Korean MMO.

        spot on mate…

edit: people shouldnt down vote your deal. it is good that you brought this up, so there is awareness regarding the issues

No hassles, I really was never a fan of the game (the gun control is very arcade-y) but maybe someone who doesn't really care about this update wants to try it out!

My pleasure. I try and be as transparent as possible.

    • Heh, nice to see this article got around. I made the suggestion to Alex before noon today to write a story on this and he put this article up a couple of hours later. Pretty impressed with his professionalism.

Despite all the heated debate regarding the update, I think it's pretty simple:
What do the stat boosting/skins do for gameplay and players - pay-to-win, nothing positive.
What do microtransactions do for the devs - $$$. On top of what is already one of the most DLC heavy games out there.

Extremely greed-driven developer. I'd refund my copy if I could.

Train Simulator is pretty hilarious regarding DLC heavy games. All 223 pieces of DLC comes to $5134.67 USD.

      • its a niece market and your not meant to buy every train
alot of people are often obsessed with specific trains so they would buy them specific ones

          How much is your niece?

No I totally understand! I just laugh every time I see how much DLC there is.

        • @psyren89: autocorrect :)

As someone who has posted deals for this game before, I can't say these developers are worth supporting. You're wasting your time by buying this. I have almost 1.9k hours in the game and I'm basically done.

As usual, I'm going to drop a link to this topic.
