Great metroidvania style game, played them both after hollow knight

Nine sols is also a good one with a twist with a parry and defend mechanism.

all on xbox game pass if you have a sub.

    • Nine Sols is so great. Probably the best game in this category, even over Hollow Knight.

Both of these games are absolutely incredible. I'm not a big metroidvania fan, but the story, music, art and gameplay are 10/10.

I usually don't play platformer games and I struggled with some of the jumping sequences whilst playing the first Ori. But I took a break, got back into it and improved my gameplay and fell in love with the: game mechanics, story, soundtrack and finishing the game left me a sense of profound achievement!

Highly recommend these series to anyone on the fence :)

  • Both are excellent games, well worth playing.

  • Do these work in offline mode? Say steamdeck on a plane?

      Works perfectly on my SD.

    • Yep runs nicely on the steam deck. I recommend locking the frames to 60fps (60hz)

      • Is that for battery purposes? Just got a SD so I am still figuring out how best to set individual app settings

        • I have the OLED version and when running at 90hz, it had inconsistent frame times and felt a bit choppy. 60fps/60hz feels much smoother.
If you have the LCD version, it'll already be at 60hz

  • Won't regret buying

  • I don't like platformers, but these games are fun & look excellent on an OLED with HDR.

  • Awesome games. Playing them through for the 2nd time now

  • For those reading the comments and haven't played Ori, do yourself a favour and buy them both games. Absolutely fantastic. 10/10

  • Thanks OP, grabbed it.

For those with XBGP, both are there

  • Amazing games. Can be hair pullingly frustrating at times but the audio and visuals are top notch.
