LAN : 100Mbps only
it does 1080p.
9400M will easily do 1080P.
What's the usual price of this thingo?
Tempting. Would be great to get a dual tv tuner and use it as a media center.
Have a look at the CPU requirements of a USB dia tuner this wont cut it.
I have tried on my netbook with a similar CPU and the results were less than desirable
It look like the operating system is extra. This is fine if you are a techie and want to install Linux or whatever but maybe not so good for those who just want a plug and play device.
It's hardly hard to install Windows :S
can play PC game and download movie.
which movie can it download?
No LCD or OS included. A 21/22/23in LCD will cost around $200. A Windows 7 Home DVD costs around $110. So a realistic comparison price for this nettop is $670. On top of that, the hardware specs are pretty basic.
Not a good deal.
Did you read? It's a mediapc meant to be plugged into a TV, not into a monitor. And few nettops would have a 9400 in them for HD playback.
For a much better deal, see the MSI AP1900 nettop @ $449
Seriously its a Atom 330 this is the clearly the weakest link, sure the GPU may be able to handle most of the decoding (windows only). But things like adding a Tuner, Running windows Media Center, transcoding, ripping are all going to require a faster CPU
"handle most of the decoding (windows only)"
nVidia drivers on Linux can handle hardware decoding just fine.
!!! Posting needs !!! more exclamation !!! marks !!! AND ALL CAPS !!!
not that impressive. id rather buy a netbook with wireless N for $100 more. cant stream HD content with 802.11 b/g.
It doesn't seem to include a HDD as well?
250GB hdd enclosed
5400 or 7200RPM? Thanks!
5400RPM drive was chosen to minimise noise and heat.
Don't discount the ATOM 330 as having enough grunt for media center applications. I run a ATOM 330 ION media center (not the box above mind you, one I built myself) and it has no problems recording 4 channels at once, playing blu-rays, mkv and other h264/divx videos. The important thing is to make sure it's the ION chipset.
Haven't tried transcoding on it, or converting videos (I have no need to) though. The hard drive and network may be a bit of a bottleneck though depending on what you are doing (media center wise).
I didn't realise the 330 was dual core, I tried with a single core Atom 230. But what I have read the 330 has about twice the grunt, thanks to the extra core and beefed up cache structure. I wouldnt want to use handbrake with but some encoders and transcoders can use the CUDA (GPU) to convert.
I am using a AMD Phenom Triple-Core with the times the CPU power (Passmark) in my HTPC and even this maxes out under win 7. All that aside for the average setup its not a bad option, if size/power consuption is a primary concern.
There's a nice review on tweaktown:
http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/3050/giada_slim_n10_nvidia_…
Downside is Wireless B/G only. 10/100 Lan. Single slot ram (no dual channel).
But seems to play back HD content fine as per the paragraph below:
'We tested SDTV, 720p and 1080p playback on the system and we can happily report that the system had no issues playing back this sort of HD content. Playback was smooth without dropping frames and the image quality produced was fine. We can notch all this up to the NVIDIA Ion chipset taking charge and offloading the work from the CPU.'
I've got some questions for ITSKY:
1) Does it support Windows 7?
2) Can the CPU be overclocked (like the ASRock)?it supports win7. however it can not be overclocked.
The OP should link to this:
http://www.itsky.com.au/catalog/partdetail.aspx?PartNo=OEM-S…
It has more specs there (including listing the 250GB HDD).
That looks good. If only it has Gigabit Ethernet as well…will it do 1080p too?
