  • Can these be used for my Eneloops?

    • Duct tape them together

  • Great charger. Only bugbear is with the UI - different from my previous Ctek and it is taking me a while to get the hang of it.

  • I wouldn't rush to buy it thinking its a excellent deal, it's nearly normal price anywhere else at any time.

gadgetcity.com.au has it for $102 with free delivery, you would probably save more than $3 in fuel.

From memory another place has it for the same price for with the silicone case worth $20 for free as well.

    • Agree, but if you need a present this weekend and was going to buy it anyway…

    • Any idea what this other place might be?

  • For half the price, you can get a hobby charger on ebay, Can't quite remember the name, but there are all clones of the Bantam e-station BC6.

allows you to charges LIPOs, Li-ion, Life, Nimh, Nicd, and lead batteries.
I'd go for one of those to get more flexibility and save $. this deal might be good for this particular product though.

    • I have one of these, and the problem is if you're charging a 12V battery, the charger's safety timer will turn the charger off before it's finished charging the battery. From memory, it's a 3hr timer cut-off.

That's the reason why I purchased a Projecta PC800 8A charger for charging my 12V batteries.

      • +1

ahh mine, you can disable the timer.

    • They are not designed for charging car batteries are they? Also comparing cheap no name clones/copies is not a fair comparison.

      • yes, they're design as a multi chemistry charger..
        including SLAs

they're not really a clone, the only reason I mentioned them as a clone, is because i have the "original"
the only thing they copied is the case.
the brand (which I can't remember) is more famous than bantam now!

It's really up to each person.
If you want to leave it hooked up, this is probably a better choice.
for me, i prefer not having single use devices.

        the more choice the better!

  • I am wanting a trickle charger to connect to a motorbike that only gets ridden every few months. Is this suitable or any other suggestions.

    • +1

Yes, perfect. You can leave it on permanently without damage.

    • Yep, same charger for my DRZ. Has a somewhat dodgy battery, wouldnt last long between rides.
This seems to have refreshed it or revitalized it, lasts noticeably longer now.
      Well worth it.
Paid $115/$119 delivered with a silicone case and the extra leads that plug directly into the charge leads.
I'm going leave these two extra cables with the eyelets and connector hooked up to battery permanently for fast hook up to the charger.
But no problem to leave it connected full-time. I just don't have power point close to my bike so need to run a lead out.

    • Follow-up.

This Repco one comes with the eyelets leads I mentioned.

I bought the package that has the silicone case, and also another adaptor which I haven't and in hindsight prob won't use.

They usually charge around 20 for the silicone case.

    • thanks guys.

  • I'm a noob when it comes to battery chargers, how does this compare the the Aldi AutoXS CPL2054 unit that was going for $30 ish bucks ?

  • Just lettin you know that if you dont buy from Repco while on their 45% ""SPECIAL"", its always $93 plus shipping costs here - http://store.rvtek.com.au/ctek-mxs-5.0-battery-charger-12-vo…

    • +>$6 shipping making it higher total cost vs getting one in store today.

      • +1

Yes agree but my point is that repco says it's 45% off when at a lot lf places around the $100 is just their normal price.
