  • I wouldnt go as far and say its a "super hot deal"

I bought my benq 24 inch for 200 delivered and my brother got his for 165 pick up ( thansk to oz bargains of course!)

This one is nothing too special in my opinion.

    • Which model of BenQ 24" did you purchase?

    • is it LED or normal LCD?

  • Probably the G2420HD from http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/18078

    • G2420HD is a LCD monitor. However LED monitors are built with revolutionary LED backlight technology.

Please note: LED backlight technology is not "revolutionary" (my laptop in 2007 had an LED backlight). Also I'm looking at an LED backlit display right now, side by side with a traditional LCD (cold cathode fluoro) and the quality is the same.

The usual bugbears of LCDs, such as slight motion blur and limited viewing angle (depending on LCD technology) are not affected by the type of backlight used.

This monitor is also advertised as an "LED monitor", when clearly it's a traditional LCD with LED backlight. True LED monitors featuring organic LEDs have been a 'real soon now' technology for around 5 years, but have longevity problems and are still very expensive.

  • +1 to above, its not exactly "REVOLUTIONARY"

LED is mainly better power saving….thats about it really

    • LED has better colours and contrast too.

      • The colour is different due to the slightly bluer light from white LEDs compared to CCFLs, but contrast is purely a function of the LCD itself and not the backlight.

        • For side lit LED backlights yes, but dynamic RGB backlights allow for local dimming which can greatly increase the dynamic contrast ratio.

  • Nothing special here.

  • About 5% better than usual.

Not worth all the exclamation marks, but reasonable if you're paranoid about power usage.
