Mate, clear your cache, history etc. including passwords and you will see.
I have tried it on three different PCs again. FB definitely required unless you have all your passwords saved.

You're probably already logged into FB that's why you didn't notice.
That's correct. And yet these people feel the need to just correct other people without first having checked why they might not need FB.
Makes me a bit sick and really serves as a disincentive not to post anymore. Every post you get a couple of ….. who "know better".

I've never had to use FB to get these PCGamer freebies, although I do follow them on FB. I just enter my email address, wait a few mins and the key is right there in my email.
They can probably connect you and know you follow them on FB which is sufficient I suppose.
Or you are perma-logged in in the background as you do not delete your complete history and data after each session.
