There's a 4tb from Dick Smith for $153.30 AUD at the moment.. An extra $70 is quite a premium for a usb powered drive

      It's a different product mate.

      • It depends on how you view it. They both are same Seagate brand, both are same 4TB capacity. Even at the same price, weight by weight, the desktop one is cheaper in term of unit price. LOL

        • 2.5" vs 3.5" hdd. Different in size as well as power usage.

        • @claud0902: I know, I just pulling his leg.

Sure, but you're still just buying hard drive space. The other differentiators aren't worth $70, at least to me.

        • What it's worth to you is not the point.

Yes, you're allowed to have an opinion on and purchase what you want.

No, you're not allowed neg because they are different products, regardless of your personal preference. One is easily portable and easily powered, one is not. That's a fundamental difference.

    • link pls?

  • How about 4tb fast one whats different between this one?

  • For those with Amex, Prime and interested in more capacity there is the Seagate Expansion 5tb - http://amzn.com/B00TKFEEBW for $129.99USD

With 15% Amex equates to $110.4915USD + $12USD for delivery. Prices and delivery charges assumes Amazon Prime membership. Not sure if it differs and by how much if non prime.

All up, $177.85AUD (including 3% conversion rate).

Roughly $35.57/TB which is a bit better than the $38.325 from Dick Smith's eBay.

My apologies to those with non prime.

    • But that is 3.5", different to this 2.5"?!

On the other note, how easy to get the faulty item to be replaced under warranty with Amazon?

      • Not on Prime, but can only praise Amazon for their post-sales support. Shipped new product within couple of days with a label for free postage back. It was for a Kindle, not sure how it is for other products, but I was impressed.

  • Is this on special price? If so, when is the promotion finished?

  • I remember getting 5TB versions from Amazon for $160 AU each…back when there was parity… :(
