I have a TomTom GO730 and I love it.
But they are very very greedy when it comes to maps.
If they were reasonsable and made the new maps say $39.99, then I would just get them from TT.
Easy… here's forty bucks, one-click and my maps are updated. Done.
But they choose punative pricing way over $100 that makes it worth peoples time to get the maps from elsewhere. I object to paying $600 for a GPS, and then effectively another $260/year to keep up with the maps. ($129 x two updates/ year).
Even at the reduced price, it's still harsh IMO.
It's not like TomTom is out there driving the streets, making sure my maps are accurate.
They buy them from someone else who does all the hard work.
And it's not even accurate. I have mine set to AVOID DIRT ROADS, yet it takes me down them frequently.
Anyway… I realise that I have choices, other companies, but they all use the same map provider, so you're darned if you do, and darned if you don't really. :(

Even with the discount its a rip off IMO.
