I really didn't need another set of headphones, but I guess I did.

Came up to $64 delivered for me though after starting the 14 day trial.

  • Reviews are good? I read a lot mentioned about hissing sound when turning on the livestage feature.

  • Got mine today and was delivered the Synchros Slate version. It's cheaper on Amazon than the S500's but higher rated. Comments seem to support that there's no difference between the S500's and Slate's.

Very happy with mine so far, they punch extremely hard when hooked up to a good source. Jaw bone and teeth rattling hard, without distortion. Crisp up high, punchy in the middle and heavy but not overpowering or muddy down low (but maybe close to being). I don't own a set of M50's but I would think that these JBL's would have a similar signature just by people's description. They don't sound so great so much when hooked into my Note 2 (my daily driver) though.

Build quality is fantastic. Metal, leather and very nice feeling padding without feeling heavy. The case even has a velvet lining. The supplied cable doesn't feel anywhere close to the quality of the headphones though, but not a hard thing to replace if it goes.

The Livestage DSP sounds a bit gimmicky so far. I'll keep trying it and force myself to listen to an album or 2 through it, but I much prefer the sound without it activated so far.

Might use that space for the batteries to fit a bluetooth receiver in the future.

They really, really could have used a 3.5mm connection on both ends of the cable. Who the hell uses 2.5mm these days?
