A very cheap buy here, bought one myself.
Closest to this price is at MSY for a non-hp branded Razer Lycosa for $98

Though eBay is generally not allowed the mods will check it and probably allow it. Because it seems to be from a reputable seller and it's buy it now it should be OK (case in point - Pinnacle DVB-T tuner cards which were a great deal).
Ahh was wondering
link to pinacle tuner card if anyone is wondering

why no ebay? its a complete legit source to buy products and would be quite
similar to online shopping.
Further Ebay your able to check the sellers profile and history with ability
retrieve funds back from paypal if anything goes wrong so could be even better in a way.
nicely said
From memory this site does not allow ebay listings as bargains, mods feel free to correct me if i am wrong
As per my comment above, nothing wrong with ebay imo i sell tons of stuff on there and buy as well and think 90% of ozbargainers are ebayers
very true!
I've seen plenty of ebay deals on here..
If it's a legit deal, it's a legit deal. We're a quick to find out around here anyway.
I wouldn't say we've seen plenty of eBay listings here — only 20 have been allowed in the entire history of OzBargain since 2006. I hope the present modding policy with respect to eBay listings remains — I'd hate to see OzBargain become "OzClassifieds" if single item/private seller eBay listings were to be allowed here! :)
@[Deactivated]: Thats what i thought, i would hate to see ozclassifieds as well although gives me an idea lol
Yes I am.. lol
EBAY is allowed, just not auctions (as there is not a set price) or Buy It Nows with limited quantity. There is a method to the madness round here.
That makes sense , thanks
Sweet deal. Tempted to get one just to see what it's like.. for that price.
Does anyone know if they actually make real HP branded Razer stuff ? and is the branding easy to get off ?
Ebay or not, a great deal. Just bought one.
Let us know if its good i am tempted
Just got mine today. I'm pretty happy with it (just office use). I think everyone else's feedback on the keyboard is so far accurate. But no stuck issues on my XP notebook so far. I will test with Win7 at home tonight.
also remember you can also bring the price down with the "best offer"… not sure of the threshold tho.
Seller seems to be accepting offers at $37 (down from $39.99), based on my quick perusal of the seller's feedback.
interesting feedback too although only the negs i put below, i wont be buying
have problems with the keyboard the a button gets stuck on and I cant fix it.
Item different than advertised and pictured
slow delivery, faulty product, Extremely rude seller, recommendation- do not use
only 6 negatives out of >800 sales in one month??
You should probably also read sellers replays back as well..
We just ordered 2 here at work, I will report back here to tell good or bad if you want.
@raspudala: i did read the replies i just didnt list them here ;). Ebay has a good policy where you try and work it out first before leaving neg feedback
please note it is actually 800+ in 12 months and thats not that good
Please let me know i smell something fishy with this deal
@Mikinoz: They do? I've got negative feedback that buyers have left and never tried to work anything out with me.
Ebay will remove it though, if you give them a good reason.
99.3% out of 2147 sales is a (NAUGHTY WORD) load of positive sales my man, you're just nitpicking here.
MOD: Naughty word (expletive) removed. Please keep it clean
@Mikinoz: eBays craptacular feedback system only allows BUYERS to leave negs or neuts, sellers can ONLY leave positive feedback.
This CRAZY system means buyers are really trigger happy with their negs and neuts these days knowing there is no point in trying to negotiate if a problem arises.
Buyers simply NEG, then apply to Paypal for a credit, which is immedaitely granted IF the seller cannot PROVE they item was received by the buyer. Even if the buyer CHANGES their mind, all they have to do is PROVE they shipped SOMETHING back to the seller and they are refunded. They don't even have to ship the correct item back - just ANYTHNG !!!
I recently had a buyer buy a Mobile Phone recharge voucher, use the credit, file for a credit with Paypal - post me back the used voucher and Paypal refunded them (taking funds out of my Aussie Bank account) - It was only after I started REALLY freaking out that Paypal agreed to credit me the amount taken out of my account !
I have over 4,300 + feedback, I sell a product with a 100% satisfaction guarantee and people still try to neg and neut me rather than just ask for a replacement product, if they get something faulty !!!
@jason101: Thats pretty messed up
If I do any trading its only through private sales, never use eBay to sell anything and what you just described is part of the reason why. It's way too Buyer orientated and you get jack all protection as a Seller there.
The feedback is pretty positive about the keyboard on the whole, though.
have problems with the keyboard the a button gets stuck on and I cant fix it.
Item supposedly comes with a 12 month warranty. (Also, LOL @ sticky keyboards.)
Item different than advertised and pictured
I'm guessing the buyer was expecting the Razer Lycosa in the gallery picture rather than the HP-branded model clearly stated in the description.
slow delivery, faulty product, Extremely rude seller, recommendation- do not use
This feedback is old and probably wasn't in relation to the keyboard being sold here.
@[Deactivated]: like the negative votes here people do not vote negative unless they feel strongly towards it , as oppose to positive which is a must .
Like you i am skeptical of the neg feedback but alwasy like to make sure i am not in there position
$36 is a reject .
I put an offer for $37… see what happens. Thanks for the post !
Be warned, this keyboard, is very buggy when used on x64bit os, buttons randomly stop working, and sometimes buttons randomly get stuck, and the touch pad starts forwarding, pausing and playing music by itself, I have three of these at home, their beautiful keyboards, only difference between them and the razer, is that the logos are different and the back lighting is white instead of blue. I have 3 of them at home, and am running win7 64bit on all my three machines and the keyboards certainly have an issue with it, I've tried many drivers same problem.
What a weird issue.. It's quite possible almost everyone who will be using one of these would be running a games machine with over 4GB of ram, thus the latest OS (7) + 64bit to take advantage of all the ram.
How are they for driver revisions?
Thats the problem, there is not 64 bit driver for this keyboard from hp, as it was a limited edition that was only meant to be sold with a certain computer, and there is no more support for it,i used the standard one that came with the keyboard, and it was almost unusable. Then i got the razer 64 bit one, and its a lot better, but still get the same issue a few times a day, and i gotta unplug the keyboard and then plug it back in… I would really appreciate it if some one can help with this.
I'm still on XP so I don't have any issues at all with this kb.
Love the rubberised feel of the keys, it's actually really smooth and "light" to type on.
@blublu: I just found out that my brothers running win 7 32bit, so maybe the issue is incompatibility with windows 7
I actually bought one of these last time it was posted here on OZBargain (albeit in the comments of a Razer deal).
The seller is fine to deal with - shipping and packaging was quite reasonable and fast. I think I did get in an offer of $37.
They keyboard itself:
Negatives
- keys are low-profile/thin, so there's a bit of a clicky noise;
- you don't get the same feel/feedback of a regular keyboard and thus feels a bit cheap;
- surface is shiny, so it attracts fingerprints like no tomorrow;
- the keys themselves, whilst having a rubbery feel, also pick up oil from hands very fast (and need cleaning);
- not as many multimedia controls as normal keyboards.
Positives:
- white illumination is great (as opposed to regular dim blue), but not too bright;
- looks great when clean;
- supposedly works better when pressing multiple buttons when playing games (although haven't tested yet);
- has a USB slot on keyboard, although this requires plugging in two USB cables from the keyboard into the computer. After discovering this feature, I actually found out my Dell keyboard has two USB slots, and only requires ONE cable!
Would I buy again? Probably not… i prefer the feel of my stock Dell XPS keyboard. But I like the illumination and gaming advantages so I'll stick with it.
Completely agree with the negs. I have the exact same keyboard, bought from a different seller for $40 (minus $12 shipping with the Paypal code from last time).
Great keyboard, but it's hard to maintain the clean look (have to wipe it every week) and the keys are pretty loud.
Have no problems using it with 64 bit Windows 7 — all buttons work, I just hope the keyboard lasts long enough (touch wood)
As they say, you get what you pay for and but for $40-55 there is no better keyboard in this price range.
But for those who are serious about quality you might want to settle with one of the higher end ($100) Logitech "G" series of keyboards.
repost
Heh, me and my friend bought these about a week ago. Excellent keyboard, backlighting is hot, audio ports, usb port, very slick and comfortable.
Off the same seller as well, he gave both of us express insured post btw.
Exact same keyboard as the lycosa with a different colour scheme and different colour backlight with a HP logo, many gamers prefer the razer lycosa over the g15
It's the luck of the draw when you buy this keyboard. I have six friends who bought the same keyboard off this vendor. Four of them worked fine. Two had nothing but trouble and where re-connecting the keyboards 30+ times a day, as they kept dropping out.
Did they install razer lycosa drivers?
i just bought one!!! Pray for me lolx
I bought one of these in mid november last year from this guy…
You'll receive the box inside out with a shipping label on it.
The box has english and asian text on it. (english keyboard with no weird characters etc..)
You'll need the backlight on at all times (when off you can hardly see the text on the keys)
Keyboard is awesome to type on, much better than a generic.
Others have had issues with rubber on keys wearing off after a while, buggy issue/driver issues, and gets dirty easy (fingerprints) Mine has never missed a beat.
USB port is 1.1 not 2.0 ( fine for mouse, but usb ext hdd = no )
Best keyboard I have owned to date, and worth the $
Just a note - I bought a genuine (blue) version for a client and thought the blue made the keys very hard to see. So if you intend buying one I reckon these white keyed versions would be much better (if not so cool).
When I first read this post, I disagreed with the posting of an eBay auction as a bargain - but at the end of the day, the seller had several hundred of these available so I've changed my opinion as the bargain is genuine and available in sufficient quantities.
The seller has just accepted my offer of $37 + shipping! :) I wonder if they'll go any lower?…
dennis.s.s 21 hours 9 min ago
$36 is a reject .
Had my offer of $37 accepted as well.
My bid of $36- was rejected too.
Looks like 37, is as low as he'll go! :P
Now to find a nice mouse to go with this new keyboard.. Hmmm, any suggestions?
Logitech G5 if you're into gaming… adjustable weights, high DPI sensor, lots of buttons, and adjustable DPI.
Got this mouse for $62 (after much haggling) from PCDIY in Auburn. Beats any Razer mouse I've used (Copperhead, Lachesis, Salmosa)
@scrimshaw: g5 has been replaced by the g500
the g5/500 is an ambidextorous mouse while the g9 is shaped to fit a right hander and imo feels better especially if u palm your mouse, there's also a narrow cover for those who like to use their fingers to control their mouse
@Trance N Dance: I use a G5 with mine and i think it's a good combo. G500 pretty much the same mouse.
@atlas: Thanks for recommendations guys. I ended up with something completely different.. But it kinda matches the keyboard.
I got a Microsoft Habu(rebadged Razor Deathadder, apparently) for $35.
Oh don't I love the rebadged peripherals. :)
$38 is rejected now. Hmmm I think he realized something haha!
well the price is now 54.99
Even try $45 ! REJECTED!!!
$50 was automatically accepted. There's only a few units left though. He prolly couldn't handle the sudden spike in orders coming in from here lol.
Geez, he really bumped that price up didn't he!
OP should probably be changed for future reference considering he's still selling them.
WOOHOO! just received my keyboard this morning. installing drivers for 64bit Windows 7 now. so far looks pretty good and im happy with it.I am not a big fan on the amount of click-clackety that the keys make when pressed though, but backlighting clearly makes it all worth it :P
I just got mine as well today. Are you using Razer's x64 drivers?
Just received mine!
Keyboard's not as loud as I was expecting, about on par with most imo.
Lighting on WASD cluster is just what I was looking for, works brilliantly. Very happy with this purchase.
No ebay please
