I'm not so sure about paying so much for training shoes online

I believe the best training / running shoes are the ones that fit best and higher cost doesn't ensure you get a good fit … If you are up to spending a couple of hundred on running shoes isn't it best to go to Rebel or A-mart stores during a discount season and score the best fitting shoe …

In my experience i find that ASICS Kayano's fit very nicely and feel great since the fabric does stretch. If you know your right ASICS shoe size then it's an easy choice. You can also go by the ASICS shoe sizing guide. Just measure your foot length and go by the CM and then the matching US size on the guide for a correct fit since all the shoe sizes are in US size. http://www.asics.com.au/shoe-size-guide

Also serious runners wear shoes like the Kayano. And the saying you get what you pay for.

      • I agree on the quality of Asics mate , else at OzB they would be derided for the high prices … I'm one of the old school guys when it comes to buying training shoes as I always try

The flipside is my conscience stops me from going to footlocker and measuring using their equipment and not buying there ( Rebel is fine to be showroomed , with their bare bones shoes off the shelf , but Footlocker and others have specialist measurement equipment )

Or the Ozbargain way of trial fitting at Rebel/Foot Locker and not paying their $250 RRP but buying it from a cheaper deal like this and saving the $50 :P

      • Yeah that would work. :)

Go to one of these places: http://www.activefeet.com.au/stores/ or shoe logic at the Melb city baths. Most of the assistants are either physio or podiatry students. They film your feet as you run on a treadmill and analyse your step, then film you running with different shoes and you can compare fit/comfort as well as the allignment of your foot and ankle with different runners on. When you find one you like, either buy them there.. or leave to think about it and buy them somewhere else if your conscience allows :P

        • That is the problem … Being a bargain hunter with a conscience is a hard thing :)

Would feel uber bad to do all the measurements and then buy online . . Showrooming is fine to an extent , but using the footlocker facilities and then buying elsewhere feels a bit wrong in my heart :(

      • yeah , that is the true bargain hunter method , but I can't bring myself to do it at footlocker where they measure your foot etc ( I'm not saying I'm an angel though , I've done the fitting in Myer / Rebel earlier , coz the attention per customer is low there , unlike footlocker )

        • If you're not willing to go to Foot Locker or some where what's to stop you from measuring your own foot length?. Not hard use a measuring tape/ruler, pencil/pen and a bit of paper. The foot length CM and matching US sizes are on the Asics shoe size guide.

This online guide even guides you how to measure your right foot size to obtain the correct shoe size.

        • @hollykryten: Only thing stopping me is the conservative mindset of not buying unless trying it on … It's an annoyance for me too

  • No size 15, story of my life.

  • No surprise that Kayano 22 shoes have topped the current best sellers list under the Sports section.

  • I want to buy some, but I am reluctant since the chart tells me I need a 10.5 but they only do 10 or 11 in females.

    • There are size 10.5 Kayano 22 for women but it seems COTD just doesn't stock them. Although next size up is only 5mm longer.

      • Yeah, I realised there's only such a small difference, and at the moment I believe I can get the shoes for $160 if I check out with a Visa card.

  • After hours of research, I decided against these and got the Noosa Tri instead. They seem to fit my needs a bit better, plus they were cheaper.
