Title could be - "Kids Tracking Watch with GSM and GPRS only $99 (Save $171.40) @ kissmobile"

    http://www.lightinthebox.com/new-mini-gps-tracker-smart-watc…

    AU$71.49 there… Without a sim.

2G only I believe though so going to be more and more useless with every passing day I would have thought.

    • +2

Only a slight premium for them to set up the watch, might be good for some but I am not investing in anything 2G

      • +2

The $5 one year credit Aldi sims were good for this sort of thing in the past… But 2G today nah…

I was looking last week at these things and there are very few 3G, I think I found one kids one but a few more adult ones. A number were marketed as 3G but they were not once you read the specs.

    • Light in the box are scam artists.
They took back an RMA of a $400 head unit and neither refund nor replaced. Ignored my emails.

      Google more reviews…

      • Confused
Kiss Mobile has been established since 2004
        What is RMA?
We are an online mobile service provider
I think you have us mixed up with some one esle

        • +2

in business since 2004 and doesnt know what an RMA is, id aviod this business at all costs.

          You are confused Rep.

jinny7 was quite clear that they were referring to "Light in the Box". A China based online retailer.

An RMA is a Return Material Authorisation.

@A3Australia: What does this have to do with Kiss Mobile?

Wow! Way to go Rep/OP. Abuse OzBargainers who are trying to help you.

Try to follow and keep up:-

Pobman posted a comment stating that the same device was only AU$71.49 from Light in the Box.

Then jinny7 posted a comment claiming that Light in the Box were "scam artists" because they would not refund nor replace a faulty item returned under a RMA.

You then became confused, did not know what RMA meant, and started 'hitting out' at anyone who tried to explain and alleviate your confusion.

        • @A3Australia: Apologies
Yes I Need to keep up!
It just seem that everyone is against you in this place
We have nothing to hide and if there is a problem we will fix it
So once again I am sorry

        • @tuzii: Thanks for your support - have a great day!

What network? Given it is 2G I hope its one that will still have a 2G network in the near future

  • -5

This is a 3G watch as the 2G network is set to be closed next year

    • +5

Can you provide a link to the specs please, every specs I read for this watch were 2G only, would be interested if it has been updated for sure.

  • +4

Yes you are correct - I have just spoken to management and they have told me this is a 2G watch - I stand corrected

    • +2

Thanks for checking.. Shame though :(

      • Yes I know - there was a miss communications as it works on both 3 and 2G network however, data usage is over GPRS and not 3G - bummer

    • Yes $31 USD (On Volume) - then you need to buy it - conversion rate USD to AU - then you need a lithium battery permit to move it from China to Aust - thank you DHL but that cost money as well. Then you need to track it and back it up with support and warranty
But hey be my quest and buy it!

        Just for interest.

Here is the same watch for around US$43.75 (AU$62) delivered to your door via Singapore Post.

        • Great, thanks
I will also pass this onto the management.
          Great find and thanks again

  • +1

Anyway are you going to guarantee "12 Months of Mobile tracking and Data" i.e. That the 2G network will still be up and working in a year? If it's not will you be refunding?

    • At the end of the day we need people to give us feedback
We have tested a bucket load of watches for this purpose. If you want your money back then will give you a full refund in 30days after getting the device.
Feedback is king - we need to make sure that what we have is going to last
So it is a bargain and we do not want to take advantage of you or any parent - we want to make it work.

  • +2

Cheaper and safer to tie them up with a chain.

    • +3

Do we need to report you….child services??

  • I have been informed that the Vodafone network has not set a date to close their 2G network. That been said, the following refund would apply: No refund on unit.
Minimum Smart Watch plan is $5.95 per month - therefore any remaining months out of the 12 months remaining refunded to a max of $29.75.

Optus will shut down its 2G GSM network from 1 April 2017-
Looks like this will work for 1.5 years only as I believe KISS Mobile runs off optus.
    Rep can you confirm.
I like the idea.. Shame its not 3g.
Rep, with these network limitations can you come up with a better price for us Ozbargainers? As this will need to go in the trash in April 2017.
I may consider buying 2 if you can do a better deal.

    • It is the best deal we can do at the minute as we do not how many calls and messages the child will send from the watch to the Parent

      • +1

Why would this matter? Those are charged over and above according to your info above.

        • -3

Would you like any help or just passing by to make comment - thanks

        • @kissmobile:

Rep is getting a little annoyed?

        • @A3Australia: Not annoyed at all, you seemed to point out the captain obvious.
          Have an awesome day

    • +1

When that happens, they will offer you a "Kids Tracking Watch - ultra edition" upgrade. Normally $999, but ONLY $499 for those who own the 2g edition…..

You are getting more confused. It was not my comment.

        • @A3Australia: Not at all. Do you need help. Or do you just want to comment

I have been looking at this kind of device as well, but the 2G will be an issue committing to this amount of money for a short time solution.
Also, I am thinking the watch will be the first to be snatched from your kid.
Anyone know and tested a different kind of tracking device? Something that can be thrown to the bottom of the bag maybe?
Maybe this could be an input for the Rep as well?

  • +1

The research we have done has found that they throw away the school/sports bag and check for a mobile device

  • OP - Are these devices certified as safe and do they have ACMA approval?

  • The signal is approved and the power is supplied by USB

    • The signal is approved and the power is supplied by USB

Ahh.. O K - Please answer my question. It is a mobile device that requires a SIM Card. It has to have approval. This must, by law, be visible on the outside of the box. Please take a look. Also, it does not matter if it is charged via a USB port. It has to have electrical Safety Certification. Do you supply a 240v wall charger?

      • I have passed your questions on to management

        • I have passed your questions on to management

Thank you. I suppose that you meant the one about ACMA.

What about a charger? Does it come with one?

        • Yes it comes with a USB charger

        • @kissmobile:

Yes it comes with a USB charger

So, that charger is required to have Electrical Safety Certification, and so does the watch.

Think about it… Even if certified as safe. The AC charger could fail. Of course, it should fail 'safe' - as it is certified. However, if it did not, 240volts could go to the watch. This is why the watch needs to be certified as well.

        • @A3Australia: Thank you for your feedback and this needs to be addressed. I have fwd this onto management. Again thank you

  • +1

Rather than tracking them, let them come to you. Write something on their clothing like "If you could please kindly return my kid, you will be rewarded $1000. No question asked."

    • Really! Obviously you have no kids!

  • OP - Is this correct?

    "KissMobilePlans.com is for sale!
The owner of the domain you are researching has it listed for sale at $100."

  • Thank you for your feedback - I have passed this on
This is what I have got back
    KissMobile.com.au is valid
KissMobilePlans.com is also valid (this is our landing page site)

  • Hi Store Rep,

Is there a discount if I get more than one device? I have 3 kids and also nephews/nieces. Would be interested in at least 5 units.

Am new to this site so not sure how it works, imagine there is a bargain for bulk orders?

    Thanks

    R

    • Thanks for your feedback
Unfortunately, there is no discount at these price levels. There is already a considerable saying.
If you are interested to try one unit then please click on the above link

      • Okay thanks.

  • Why not order more ? For tracking husband/wife/partners/grandparents/in-law/neighbors/friends……

If you order 100 units, you have a higher chance for a discount.

    • Thanks for the tip. I hope they have order this many. We need to fill all these orders.

    • Not sure my wife would appreciate being tracked. Just for kids really.

100 units, no thanks. That is a lot of money.

      • That makes both of our wives.
Yes it is just for kids and we have one for pets as well
I have learnt a lot from this experience here
        thanks
