    Who would buy this ????

  • +5

4 years old and refurbished; not worth it.

    • If you look on eBay… used iPad 2 16GB Wifi models go for around $200-$250 range. Used and no warranty

Apple products tends to hold value

    • Still supports iOS 9 and how many android devices can say that

      • -1

Almost all thanks to Android being open source and the friendly people at XDA.

        • +1

That's cheating. It requires you to have the knowledge on how to do so and it can be very unstable depending on whether your device is owned by many people or not (more specifically, whether there will be people on XDA interested in making custom ROMs for it). Manufacturers supporting the device for 1 year and 6 months? 8 months? 2 years? (can't exactly what Google's recommendation was), is one of the biggest problem that Android has. Even though custom ROMs alleviates the problem, they are not avaiable on all devices nor stable.

Just before anyone says I am an Apple fanboy or something similar, the last Apple device I've owned was an iPod Classic and last iOS device I've used was my girlfriend's old iPhone 4s when my phone broke (for about 2~3 weeks)?

That said, I don't think any 4 years old refurbished Android device can be sold at a price over $200.
I don't think any 4 years old refubished tablets should be sold at that price, regardless of iPad or Android tablet.

      • 0 android devices run iOS. It looks like it has iOS 9 in name only http://arstechnica.com/apple/2015/09/ios-9-on-the-ipad-2-not…

  • I thought I'd post it with little ones in mind.
I have an iPad 2. Wouldn't want my 2 year old on anything better. (floors are hard tiles)

Wouldn't want my 2 year old on anything better.

give them a $2 book… then they can drop it on the floor and enjoy it…

      • +4

(profanity) me. you said something i agree with

      • yes and no. I agree with you in principle. Nothing wrong with a mix though.

      • Are you advocating children to have enjoyment in dropping $2 books?

        • +7

Are you advocating children to have enjoyment in dropping $2 books?

Yes, it's very therapeutic. Especially for parents who own iPads…

      • A book written by JV

  • Maybe at $100, not at this price.

  • iPad 2 16GB Wi-Fi $229.99

    What's the normal price of a refurbed iPad 2 16GB Wi-Fi ???

  • +1

ok. Go easy on me. I was in 2 minds but thought it might be good. Maybe I am out of touch. :P

    • +1

this reaction is a given with older apple products.. hehe dont take it personally .. blame apple.. :P

      • nuh not taking it personally at all. :-)
Just struggle to keep up with WTF all these various versions and makes and models are even worth on a day to day basis.
I got an email about it which is how I got onto it and I had just finished that very minute updating my iPad 2 to iOS 9.0.

  • If it is iPad Air 1 refurbished at this price then I'll buy it.

    • Collector's item - maybe it'll appreciate like "Game & Watch"

  • Thought was ipad AIR 2, was a little excited until I saw the comments….

  • 2011 was the "year of the iPad 2"

  • Antique items?

  • +1

I just wanted to say I clean installed a few days ago iOS 9.1 public beta on an iPad 2 and it was unusable. Two days ago I downgraded to iOS 8.4.1 which was better.

However I installed iOS 9.0 today and it was really, really good! I've kept my kids iPad 2s on iOS 7, but I think I will upgrade them to iOS 9.

This may not be a good deal, but iOS 9.0 runs great on it, at least with stock apps.

  • Wow.. Maybe I can sell my old iPad 2 16GB with 3G for $250 then? hmmm..

  • My iPad 3 is an expensive paper weight now. No idea how terrible this must be. No deal.

    • Toady, i agree with you.
i just sold my ipad3 it is only a matter of time before apps are not supported on this.

      • Where'd you sell it? I'm to nervous to sell such an expensive thing on eBay/Paypal.

    • My iPad 3 still runs everything no issue

      • Try going to Brisbanetimes.com.au and watch it lag while scrolling.

        • Sounds like it's your internet

        • @asa79:
No, it's GPU is too weak to render all the content at the retina resolution. Apple knows this, which is why they released the iPad 4 after only 6 months instead of the normal 12. The iPad 3 should never of been sold.

        • @PainToad: Like I said sounds like your internet, as Mine doesnt have that issue.

        • @asa79:
Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about.

  • Not a good deal. Catch of the day has the mini 2 and others for $300 new, from time to time

  • Apple product users should note what "i" may stand for. iPad, iTab, iPhone, may be iDio…

  • I bought a refurbished iPhone 4G from overseas once. When I broke the screen, I thought it would be a good opportunity to upgrade at the Apple store, but when I went in they said that the broken screen was a generic one (not Apple-branded) and that they weren't able to offer me any support or service. So I suspect that the 1-Day warranty will be a right of return only if the product is faulty. I doubt you will get any support from them or from Apple.
