This is blended right? How does it compare to lesser but single blend whiskey?

It's just different.
Comparing a blended whisky to a single malt is like comparing an orchestra to a soloist. The soloist may be better at what they do than anyone in the whole orchestra, but they are only playing one instrument. On the other hand, you can hear that solo instrument without having it drowned out by all the others.
A good blend, like a good orchestra, will be a balanced mix of everything good about each component.
A bad blend is more like a school band… a haphazard mix of whatever instruments happened to be available.
Chivas is at the lower end of good blended whiskies. It's better than bad. I prefer JW Black, but that's my taste. I'd prefer either blend over Glenmorangie single malt, which is also a matter of taste - I just don't rate Glenmorangie. Your taste may be different.
That said, 2L is a big bottle of whisky if you don't know whether it's your style.
Thanks, I prefer Cognac, but a good stiff whisky is called for now and then.
