ALDI Motorcycle Stuff $20 to $30 off on Top of Their Specials (Hoxton Park / Carnes Hill - NSW)

130

I was having trouble with the sun visor of my helmet so went to aldi today to get a replacement helmet, I bought it recently at the aldi motorcycle equipment sale. They were selling the same helmet today for $20 less than I purchased it for, so I refunded and rebought :). All the other items are reduced by up to $30 and there was plenty of stock and many sizes for all items. See attached for all the reduced prices. Ride safe and enjoy.

  • Which store?

Clearance items vary store to store.

    • I was at hoxton park, not sure of other places.

      • Put location in title. Cheers

  • Which ALDI was this?

    • Hoxton Park. The guy at the counter said Macquarie fields is likely to have even more stock. I am in nsw, don't know of other states, might be hit and miss

      • Just popped into Hoxton Park to grab some gloves and socks. $24 for the gloves and $9.99 for the socks, they hand-wrote the prices on the clearance tags. Still good prices though!

  • They have been trying to clear stock for some time now (VIC West region - Werribee, Point Cook, Wyndham). Apart from the odd sizes, most are almost gone. Not sure about other stores in VIC.

  • Cause when I think of somewhere to buy a life saving product, Aldi pops straight into my mind….

I am on the MCC mailing list and as any ozbargainer should know price does not guarantee quality. In this case this and I quote:

"The leather and nylon gear is certified to CE1 and CE2 which means it takes 19 seconds of sliding at 28 kph to wear a hole through the leathers and 14 seconds for the nylon jacket.

Of 14 Nylon jackets tested in Australian at random the ALDI jacket came out on top by a long margin, next closest was 4 seconds wear to hole and we are talking some top names here as well."

As such, according to the MCC tests, the Aldi Jackets will give you more than double the time to wear through if sliding (and more than triple if the leather) Worth noting that this includes name brand jackets (although they don't specify which) that usually would cost 3 to 10 times as much.

I own 2, a nylon and a leather, both have been he great. The leather is a bit hotter of course, but that's to be expected.

Didn't know the Melbourne Cricket Club were so serious about safety.

  • Picked up the a helmet, gloves, leather jacket and cover this time round.
All seem pretty decent and good value EXCEPT the helmet which took back because it didn't have a AS/NZS 1698 sticker on it so make sure you make sure it has that shiny sticker on it if you're intending to grab one!

    • +1

all them got the sticker to be able to sell in australia

most likely it got peeled off

      • +1

That's what I thought but there wasn't any sticker residue there. Last time I peeled a bit off by accident and it had sticky reside that said VOID all over it. Sounds like I just got a dud then…

  • clearance items and stock levels vary.
    Find a store with stock.
Prices of the open face helmets were well discounted at GardenCity today. Might be kinda ok as a spare.
Full face helmets are mostly gone.
Boots were discounted but don't think many were left

When there's ample stock it's often a good idea to wait a week or two for clearance discounts at Aldi.

  • Wouldn't touch an also hemet… Just don't trust the quality… The leathers on the other hand seem pretty decent.

Helmet quality usually affects comfort, safety is standardised

      • don't be so sure, the Australian standards are no where near as regulated as those overseas…

many quality helmets exceed the standard substantially, I know which i'd rather have.

        • +1

I'd have to know more about the testing in individual countries to be able to add to that, however in my travels in Europe with another piece of vehicle safety equipment (child seats) they appeared to me to be far less securely attached than Australian standard ones. We typically have quite strict standards here and we pay for it, however that's not a bad thing.

Having said that, don't get me started on emissions requirements…

        • @Jackson:

The AS/NZS is a minimum requirement. The UK SHARP system uses a 5 Star rating system, which I find more helpful in deciding between short list of models.

        • @Steptoe: yes useful to know but who's to say our minimum isn't better than any particular rating without knowing the details? (forgive me if I am too lazy to check at this point in time)

  • Thanks OP.

Anyone in Vic looking there's a fair bit of stock at Burnside and some more at brimbank store. Both on clearance

  • Thanks Regie, I'll be looking!

I've been waiting for the gear to come on special, time to go in and see if they have any of the items I purchased at full price so I can purchase at reduced price and return for full price.

  • Still full price in quakers hill aldi.

Just a heads up I picked up a pair of the Kevlar jeans at Rose Hill today, down to 44.95 from 59 bucks.

They also had gloves ($24) nylon jackets (104), face masks (9.95) and other pairs of jeans (at least one M and 2 L and XL). Th ere was at least one black helmet, I think for 59, it's looks decent and has an AS sticker on it

  • Saw gloves (10 qty) and helmets (8 qty) at Toombul (QLD) today
