Frankly these 3-way coolers are better http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Waeco…
Cheaper too.
Depends where you need to use it, if it is somewhere hot that sort of cooler are of more limited use.
This is compressor like normal fridge much better then 3way. And this can set to freezer mode too not just fridge
Compressor fridges are better if your on the move alot. Whereas if you simply set up in one spot and don't take you fridge with you on day trips the 3ways are good on gas. They use alot of power at 12v like nearly 12 amps
Can`t agree with that. This is a fridge and you are referring to a cooler.
Actually engel use a different type. These share the refrigeration unit waeco uses. I have one that appears to be from the same manufacturer of this one. I bought it on Gumtree for $80. I think the exhaust fan wast working and the owner just wanted to get rid of it. The plug had knocked off the fan connector. Opened it up and checked everything out and connected the fan. It all matches waeco. 499 is OK price but its not a flaming hot deal. Mine is 60lt version and it would struggle as a freezer. Maybe the 40 would freeze.
For reference mine is a icemax d50. retail is $470 + gst

so this aldi price is par for the course, maybe a little dearer.
Generator looks cheep for 2000 watt, shame it's only a lead acid battery.
Also that battery price is a rip off, and being a wet cell battery, dangerous to advertise for portable use (dont want to keep one in your car in case of accident). Better off with an AGM for the same price of cheaper, of if using for just lights, use an old car battery.
How long would this generator run at full power on a full tank?
Anyone used the kitchen scale before? Looks quite cheap!
Great value fridge. Includes a transit cover. It is simply a rebadged primus pri40lp.

These retail around $650. This was on special last year at aldi for $450 but without the transit cover. The covers normally cost $80-150 so I'd argue this is better value.
The compressor is a good quality secop (previously known as danfoss).
I bought the Fridge/Freezer from Aldi last weekend.. All good so far
-Left it on 240v MAX -18c overnight and the fridge got down to -15 with 4 bottles of water in it. (with travel cover on)
-Handles are solid (although a bit big). You can remove the handles if you want.
-Left it off for 12 hours and then turned it back on (with items in it ) and it was reading -02c.
After 12 hours and being inside my house the outside of the fridge was cool to touch.
It runs quiet too.
Haven't had time to measure 12v actual AMP consumption yet (will try over the weekend).
Awesome cheap fridge
Engel uses same compressor and 40L is around $1200-$1300
