This is actually a Primus 40L Portable Fridge Freezer and retails normally for $750.00 to $1000.00. It uses a Danfoss compressor. For sale at Aldi $449.00

You might want to add (portable) to the title. "40L" fridge and freezer seems like a rip off at 450.

  • Wow, how many D-cell batteries would this thing take?

If this is, effectively, just a re-badged Primus model (and still has the digital temperature display), this price represents a huge saving over same-size Waeco models - even with Anaconda's 20% sales, my two cost a hell of a lot more than this.

This, along with the Primus-branded unit, uses the same compressor as my Waecos, and while (overall) mine have not been perfect, they have lasted. Assuming basic, decent, build quality all 'round (a reasonable assumption), these will give similar service.

These will also sell like hotcakes.
If you then buy actual hotcakes, you will have a very effective way of cooling them down…

  • Yes this is a good deal but keep in mind this is an old primus model no longer available. U can find old stock for about $650 so this still seems like a good deal.
Just keep in mind this model is about 3 years old.

  • What makes you think this is a rebadged Primus ?

    • Nicer still!, thanks :)

  • Can you get the velcro cover for this model?

    • +1

      Thermo cover ? yes

  • Good deal if you need one. Don't worry about the cover. There's power to burn while driving and you can just put a towel over it when your stationery at camp. Again a good deal if you need one but also remember you have to spend the $$$ on a deep cycle battery to run it.

I've got a waeco and a dual battery system and when you factor in having to replace a deep cycle battery every three years at $250 sometimes I wonder if ice is cheaper. But I reckon my 50lt waeco fits more in it than my 110lt ice box once 5 days of ice are added. Also the more you go camping the better value the 12v fridge is.

      • @sillyhead. If you are replacing betteries in three years, you are certainly doing something wrong. I run an Engel fridge and freezer off deep cyle batteries that are getting cose to 15 years old……

  • Not sure how this compares http://www.stirlingappliances.com.au/product-categories/chil…
But 40l same brand looks like a newer model for $449

  • Just saw the picture its Ac and DC as well and a fuse you could actually get to. This one is a winner.

  • Picked one up at 9:00am on Saturday morning - been looking for a 12v fridge/freeze for the past few weeks - can't go past this price - I am thinking that it will fit into a Primus/Waeco insulation bag as well??

There were a few left at the Bowral Aldi.
