Looks good. I might see if I can click and collect it after I get back from my holidays.

$55? Its still expensive. Ozbargainer dont need a fancy "Keter Rattan Elevated Garden Bed"

    • +17

Depnds what you use it for.
I found it much cheaper then a crib. No night time nappies required as it's self draining. The water leve indicator lets me know when I need to empty it.

      • LOL'd hard.. :D

    • Link to the cheaper one please. We want one of these to stop the kids digging up the plants!

      Its cheaper at Aldi

I bought 2 of these for my mother a year or more ago. She grows herbs on a balcony under her kitchen window. They take ~ 150 litres of potting mix. They work as described with the water reservoir keeping the soil moist even in the full QLD sun. It's also easy to plant and pick from, as you don't need to bend down.

Just make sure you look for cracks or missing parts. I had to go through a few units to find a perfect one. Also watch out for water in the bottom as Masters leave them out in the garden section and they can collect rain (like they are designed to do) and make a mess in the car getting them home.

    • It does not wick the water up from the draining basin. I don't understand how the water reservoir keep the soil moist?

      • +1

It just does. Probably some combination of thick plastic non-porous sides, the water reservoir, capillary action and thick growth of the herbs limiting surface evaporation.

Either way, it's much easier to grow stuff in them than large pots, which need daily watering in her full QLD sun balcony position.

My mother especially likes the pop-up "water me" indicator. Lets her know if she needs to water, or (if there's been monsoonal rain) when to open the bung to drain the water so the plants don't get root rot.

  • Are these actually rattan, or plastic?

The rattan-look plastic furniture is OK on a shaded patio, but for growing veggies you want full sun, and plastic will have a very limited life.
Same with those plastic fake-terracotta pots from Decor etc

They are plastic and the design looks great. I'm picking up a few this afternoon. They look to be easily converted to aquaculture too. Drill brackets on the sides, thread some flexible pipe or wire, bam; home made green hause.

  • I have one but broke the legs when I tried to move it :( P.S it's very heavy once you add all that potting mix :)

    For $55 it's a great price !

I've had a Keter outdoor setting for a couple of years now, shade part day, sun part day and it still looks like the day I got it. When I saw the brand I grabbed a couple of these. Thanks OP.

    • I guess it depends on your expectations. A couple of years is not much. I have a 50 yo inherited made-in-Aus watering can, whereas the plastic ones are unlikely to last five.

  • I got one of these from Aldi a while ago. I don't know how much it was, but I'd guess $70.
It's pretty good and my herbs are growing really well in it.

  • It is not a self-watering planter, I don't understand how it can do "Full watering system for truly hassle-free care".

  • This will be a further 10% off starting from Monday. I expect there will be a code on ozbargain soon, but I got mine on the bottom of the receipt.

Been looking for one or two of these to use as a small herb garden. Thanks.

  • One left at Canberra Airport. Corner is broken off though. Cosmetic only.

Annoyed I missed out. They had dozens in stock last weekend :(

    • +1

Haha brilliant, after I read this I had to go and get a photo. I picked it up for the missus today at about 3pm and I was quietly quite chuffed with the bargain I got. She didn't even notice the damage when she was repotting. Thanks for passing on it!

      • No worries mate. I am a little neurotic… Walked around with it in my trolley aimlessly searching for others to no avail, I knew the broken corner would drive me nuts so I put it back.

I bought one of these ages ago at full price - they are plastic. They gather a lot of water after a rain but there's a plug to drain the excess water. It's at a good height.

  • Heaps at Northmead masters

  • Just got one (grey) for $55 from Chullora - they were fresh off the truck apparently. There was two pallets, with 10 per pallet I think.

    • Same. I just got the light grey one last night for $55 and there were about 20 in the Hawthorne Masters (VIC). No dark ones though.

All of them seemed to be fresh off the pallet and a cursory inspection of them seemed to show them all in good nick with all the necessary parts inside. Not sure why this deal is marked as expired as it is still out for $55.

  • Showing as $79 - $100 now for me… presume it has expired.

    • Never know until you scan it I guess. It was ok for me on Monday night but I'm not sure then their deals actually expire. Eg Tuesday nights like woolies or over the weekend.

As an FYI, I filled up my tub with 4 x 25 liter bags of soil. Don't really need to buy more than that unless you want to fill it to the brim. I might consider throwing in an additional half bag in once I do a proper watering in case the soil collapses down but that's it.

  • The grey ones are back in stock for $55. I just got one for $49.50 using SUPERS10 and used my Wish card (5% off) and CashRewards (2% off) to get a bigger discount.
