  • How do you know this isn't targeted ?

    • Or single use

        • +1

let me guess, you "rent everything for free from bittorrent trololol"

        • -4

@magicmoose: no actually, but thanks for playing! Do you often randomly go around to internet forums accusing people of illegal activity?

        • @pointless comment: newsgroups?

    • +1

That's what i was thinking. Looked like maybe a targeted emailed offer to me.

    • +3

My wife got the same code as mine.

      • +1

I see. Movie rental sales must have really dropped if they're giving away $15 coupons to get people back into renting.

        • +1

Well with Netflix now in Australia (read "for an ordinary Joe") I would not buy shares of a DVD renting company. :-)

  • +2

It's not targeted, just used this twice with a friends card aswell as mine

    • I just got the email, same code

  • $15 to buy Video Ezy? Seems expensive.

    • up to $15, usually means 3 videos depending on machine's rental fee which varies from location to location

      • +2

        You missed the joke.

A few comments now re 'relevance' of physical media rentals. Does anyone have any suggestions of an online service where I can rent new release movies in a high definition video/audio format (equal to Blu-ray) that can replace my current physical rentals at a price that equals stores like Video Ezy? I'm happy to not rent physical discs, but whilst online rentals remain more expensive than physical, and/or are only accessible with convoluted combinations of hardware/software, I'll stick with physical disc rental.

    +1 for the deal.

    • +3

      & slow internet.

      • +1

I just bought my wife a tv show on dvds. I thought it would be terrible having to change discs, but you get at least 4 hours viewing per disc change. It actually isn't as bad as I expected.

edit: oh and the reason I did that is slow internet

    • +1

I still get blu-ray discs predominantly for 3D though they are getting harder to find/rent.

    • netflix for everything but latest releases….

    • moviebase.com.au

You gotta love how some members have made a hobby out of rubbishing every offer they dislike. Hello, not every offer is personally targeted!

This offer is for those who are not allergic to physical products. If you are a physical snob stick to your downloads and stop whinging about DVDs/Blu-rays.

I think it is a excellent offer and would like to thank chadiwrx for posting this offer. This user has spent their time posting this offer and the least we can do is be grateful and show some gratitude.

    • Agree, I've saved a lot by renting instead of being tempted to buy new releases. And not everyone can be arsed with streaming.

    • Equal to blu ray would be around 40gb per movie. As far as I know no online streaming/digital rental will offer you that kind of rental.

  • SHIT.. video ezy still exists?

    • +3

I must be getting old lol, but I remember the good old days, going in the video store and pretending to look at the horror movies but find myself in the adult section ;)

Too bad couldn't borrow anything out lol

  • Noob Ques - How much are the new rentals for? How many can you rent for $15 voucher in one go?

    • +2

The rentals in my kiosk are $4 each (unless $2 on a Tuesday) so you'll get three free rentals or four if you want to chip in an extra $1. Though four movies in 24 hours is a fair effort.

      • +4

        That's when handbrake comes handy!

    • Charged me $3 for DVD, $4 for Blu ray at Ingleburn.

  • So is this a targeted offer or not ?

    • Not. We also got this offer to two different email addresses.

      • Thanks. This is great. I do both, streaming and physical disc. Why limit yourself to one channel only. Free stuff is free stuff.

  • +4

VideoEzy express is useless for me now. None within 50km get movies on bluray anymore, only on DVD.

  • +1

Lol just went to my nearest store, they said they aren't renting anymore, just selling… Coz they are closing!! The next closest store has already closed.

Gotta admire the teremity of these guys though. Most franchises closing and these guys are giving away free rentals.

    Just sharing my experience..
I received the email about this also, stating the discount is available for $15 to be used in 1 transaction.
So I went to the kiosk, added multiple movies to the cart and applied the code. The discount came up as $-3.50. (The price for one movie)
I was confused and did not want to pay the other $11.50 so removed all but 2 and tapped my card as required. Sure enough the discount only applied for $-3.50…

    • +2

Yes the same thing happened to me, although its a $15 coupon it only lets you get 1 movie for free.

      • I just used it for $12 worth of movies, no problem…

Thanks for this! I am a new member. Am at home recovering from a caesarean from having a baby last week, found this offer, & sent the hubby out to get 4 new dvd's for $1 with this coupon, & stop off at Coles on the way home to pick up a few boxes of the $3.99 boxes of magnum icecreams to enjoy with the movies. Very cheap home movie night! Am a very happy girl. Thanks Ozbargain!!!

  • +4

FYI - just read last comments. The coupon worked for us, as mentioned, grabbed 4 movies @ $4 each, applied discount code & was charged only $1 for the lot.

I got told off in video easy for photographing covers of old movies i liked so i could acquire them online!
The thing is, before i'm negged for piracy, i use to own most of them back in the day before a family house fire took them from me. plus watched most of them at the movies. I mean how many times do i have to pay them to watch a movie!

Give me a source of all latest and oldest movies and tv on demand, and i will pay a hefty fee to watch it.
But don't do this, and after i've paid once, i'll "acquire" it.

    • The thing is though, you don't get to decide how much you pay for content.

It's like saying "if someone will sell me a brand new Porsche 911 for $20,000, I'll buy it. Otherwise I'll steal it".

      • I'd pay $50-100 per month..
If i bought a porsche once or twice, i'd expect it to be free next time i hired it

        • Except you don't buy the content, you buy the licence to use it under certain conditions.

        • @magicmoose: rent to buy.

  • Are new movies available for rent for 1 day only?

    • +1

Yes, return by 9pm the following day, otherwise they charge you for another night

  • So when hiring, is after 9 pm classed at the next day or is it after midnight or some other time?

  • Great freebie! Got all 3 discs of Better Call Saul, top deal for someone who regularly rents from kiosks like me! Thanks OP

  • and here i though the code was unique lol used it on the weekend watched all 4 movies
