These might only be 3m vs your 3.5m, but they should give an indication of price.

          @shadeaustralia:
Well rather than saying "FIND ME 1 which is cheaper then this?" you should have said "FIND ME a Good Quality Cantilever Umbrella which is being Manufactured by Australia's oldest Umbrella Company which is cheaper than this?"

Your demeanor is shocking. Good luck in your business endeavors. See you at Centrelink.

@puffinfresh: Good Luck to you as well ! I guess there is some basic common sense which is obviously rare these days. If price is high then there must be some reason.

When I have mentioned its Shelta's 3.5 Savannah Umbrella then whats a point of pasting all those links for comparison. Its like someone saying Ferrari Car and you start comparing it with GREAT WALL cars.

      • Challenge accepted. Gazebosaustrlia have the Savannah 3.5m Oct for $999 and your price is $1000. Check and mate.

@shadeaustralia: Mate, your representing your company here on a public website… I'm no marketing expert, but I'd say you're not bringing in much business with your poor attitude and rudeness in your replies.

also, They're 999, you're 997, either way, they're selling it without advertising a "sale" like you are. These seem to me to be regular prices. I would suggest that you've never actually sold them at the full RRP. (Standby while I investigate via Google cache)… Claiming a discount on an item that you never sold at the inflated price is misleading and potentially illegal.

@SydBargainer: As suspected. A few days ago, rep was selling these for the same price as he is now. Shameless advertising.

I bought a Shelta(the 3x4m model) 2 years ago from BBQs Galore for $999(+$150 for led light and 4xresin stones for the base)and it's still going strong and looks like new.No rust,no chipped paint at all!It even survived a thunderstorm last year and it was left open! You might find lot of cheaper alternatives but I don't think you will find a better quality cantilever umbrella than this.

    Ridiculous rrp imo.

  • We have one of these umbrellas. The same brand but I'm not sure if it's the same model, we bought it from Harvey Norman.
It looks really good, but it's only useful if there is absolutely zero wind.

It might just be the nature of these umbrellas which have an anchor point on one side of the shade, instead of umbrellas that have a central pole.

I'd never spend money on one again though, in four years we've used it less than five times because it moves around so much in slight wind and looks like it's going to take off in medium wind. I would love to see what happens in strong wind.

      what base are you using?

      • At first we were using the big cross which was weighed down by concrete pavers.

Now we have it bolted to the deck using the plate that's supposed to be used on concrete, but we had some custom brackets welded up using thick box steel that's under the deck that it bolts into.

The problem isn't at the base though, it seems more an inherent design flaw in these style of umbrellas.
With a traditional umbrella, all the supports of the shade come back to the centre and are attached to a strong central pole, forming a more stable frame.
With these umbrellas the supporting pole is off to one side so at most it can only strongly support 1/4 of the shade, the other 3/4 of the shade is attached to framework which attaches to the main support.

are you sure tou didn't get a faulty one? I used mine today. 4 resin stones in between the "cross" lines, everything on soft grass, no problems at all. Yes, the traditional ones are more stable due to the centered pole but the cantilever ones have two advantages: they can be tilted and they can be rotated 360 degrees so you can have shadow without having to move the base.

        • @GregFiona:
Maybe we do have a faulty one.
I get the advantages, but ours just seems to catch the wind really easily.
