  You're going to lose a lot of photos if this thing fails. It's astonishing to recall that when digital cameras first came out, we were using compact flash cards that were only 16Mb. Back then a 64Mb card offered plenty of storage, a luxury item even!

      The key difference is we're less inclined to have a backup plan when we're out and about with a camera.

        as long as you backup whenever you can, then at most you'll only lose whatever you've taken since your last backup.

        the point of such a high capacity card (assuming you don't have a monster device/application that will fill the card) is to be able to keep your (recent) photos/video on the card after they've been backed up, in order to have access to them on the device (eg. to show people).

        in that sense you're using it as permanent/semi-permanent storage, as opposed to temporary storage if you always back up and delete.

        (it also serves as a backup of your backup, in case your hdd fails - you'll still have all your holiday photos on your card until you get home to dump them on your computer!)

    It may be the same amount of pictures just larger ones. The cameras I use are 28mp and I shoot jpg+raw. Mp count in cameras is also going to go up.

  Good find. I was looking for a 64gb SD for our next vacation and stumbled upon the same deal. But after adding in postage and conversion, it's more less the same price as those you find on shopbot. Speed-wise that's more than enough unless you are a wedding/sport photographer.

  SanDisk themselves don't sell their cards for 1/2 price… I stay away from these 1/2 price cards as I have been burnt with dodgy cards and lost precious photos/videos…
