  • A great deal, thanks; I love how this digital timer has "Silent operation – no ticking".

Cheap price, but the screen on these has a limited viewing angle and the interface is counter intuitive, unless you like fiddling with tiny buttons while squinting and cursing (simultaneously) pay more and buy another brand/type.

    • I agree, but I have had one for 5-6 years and it is still going strong. so I think it is worth the effort

  • It's a pain to program, especially since it doesn't have battery backup, but it has been quite convenient as a countdown timer for my electric blanket.

    • backup AAA goes in the back on my 5-7 Year Old model, REAL PAIN to get the cover back on.

      • I haven't looked at the back of mine. I thought it would be using a built-in rechargeable battery but maybe not. Pulling it out now will just make it forget my settings again.

  • Would've liked this - but my new Aldi heater, surprisingly sucks for memorising a setting.
If it loses wall power it doesn't default on to a setting I'd like and the built in timer is mediocre :/

I used to have two of these for the pool pump and jetvac pool cleaner pump. Found them to be unreliable. Occasional random days they didn't turn on or off (no I didn't have it on RND setting). Enough for me to throw them out into the bin.
The slimline HPM model is much better.

Everyday price at Bunnings for pack of 2 is $32, so not much more than this deal.
The slimline one has built in battery back up and also has settings such as OFF, ON, AUTO OFF and AUTO ON which are maintained even if you pull the unit out of the wall whereas the one above will stop its program if you pull out of the wall. I find this feature valuable if you have to interrupt the program (such as backwashing the pool during a programmed on cycle).
    My thoughts anyway.

    • The slimline HPM model also has a 5 year warranty. My arlec timer was hardly used and it died just after a year.

    • Thanks for the heads up will be sure to get the hpm slim instead :)

      • No problem. For me, the reliability of the timer is somewhat important. If it doesn't turn on for a few days and I am unaware, I will end up with a green swimming pool. Not sure if it was just the one fault unit, but it made me fearful enough to replace them.
