  • No GPS?
Anyone has it and can share your experience?

    • I could be wrong but to my knowledge almost all wifi only tablets will not have GPS, they usually share a chip set. I have no experience with the particular unit but it seems Xiaomi are quite the brand these days however they seem to (in accessories at least) attract the attention of knock off copies. Spec's wise this looks good. I'd be curious to know more about the vendor which will give an idea of shipping times and authenticity.

      • Nah, my Nexus 7 Wifi 2012 model has GPS but no 3G

      • Same with my Nexus 10.

      • Same experience with my tablets: Asus Memopad 7 / HD 10, Lenovo A7, no SIM card slot but has GPS.

      • I think it's more common with Chinese tablets, they leave out GPS (I assume it is cost related) whereas I cannot really say the same with tablets from major companies (I think no GPS might be more common in budget tablets, but other than that, I cannot think of any flagship level tablets that has no GPS). My tablet and my dad's tablet both have GPS even though they are WiFi model (Tab Pro 10.1 and Tab S 10.5).

That said, I frankly don't think GPS is something vital on tablets for me, so I think it depends on person whether it's necessary.

  • Novice question here… How easy is it to get root on these things? Managed in my old Nexus tablets with various guides about, but no idea what I was actually doing :)

Very easy, just flash the official developer rom.

      As for this reseller, avoid!

    • Yeah this tablet has the best benchmarks in the market amongst all 6-8" tablets. It's a beast. Same screen as iPad Mini 3 also.

These were around this price 12 months ago, also the Nvidia Shield tablet wasn't much more. I guess the Australian dollar losing so much value has helped it retain it price.

I got one of these last week. It's my fourth Chinese tablet and easily the best. I have had a couple of iPads too, so I can compare. The screen is as good as an iPad, it is as responsive and WiFi works as well as the iPad. And the battery life is also comparable to the iPad and far surpasses any other that I've had. My last two Chinese tablets were iFive and Teclast. This is another level above them. I paid less than this, but the price is a good price. Anything just over US$200 Is a good price.

  • PS Some of us don't need the GPS function. It's often missing on Chinese tablets, since you usually have it in your phone anyway.

  • Rep, are the specs for this and the 64gb the same?

      • Thanks Does it take SIM card?
Or wifi only and Bluetooth hotspots

        • no SIM card ..
