Our stock from Xiaomi is still in the regular retail packaging.

That looks like the half price cheaper edition - Piston 3 Youth Edition.
From this picture, the design around the mic/controller has been changed.
It is not the original Xiaomi Piston 3, but Youth edition.
However, the cable of Youth edition should be flat instead of round.
We've no idea what this is.

I ordered them from Tinydeal about 2 weeks ago, a few days later the item was dispatched (email confirmation), and with standard shipping on their website (12-20 days), I received mine today (12 days had gone by since the email confirmation).
I received mine today as well, had yours been opened before?
With mine the circular sticker holding the packaging together had been sliced, there was a small piece of sticky tape now holding it together.
I'm a little disappointed.@legiong: While I don't quite remember, looking at the box now, that does seem to be the case - there is a smaller, thinner piece of sticky tape on top. Bit weird eh?

What I see is that the paper box we got it in is the original paper box - they've probably opened it to remove the original case and stuff and replace it with the plastic bag, thus reseal with the sticky tape and send it.
Seems a bit unclear why they'd do that. They did say they would just give us this "cheaper" packaging, but how much cheaper can it actually be to go through this hassle? Surely the shipping weight isn't increased considerably enough for it to be more expensive…
Has anyone compared the sound quality of these with the piston 2.0s?
Personally i reckon Piston 3s are better the 2.1s. They created a better seal which overall produced a better sound stage.
They are much comfier and aesthetically pleasing.Only downside for the Piston 3s for me is the buttons; they are hard to distinguish between the three (volume up, down, play/pause) by feel

I'm with you on that. They're definitely more comfortable and sound better but its a pain to find those buttons when you're not looking.
