  • "Voucher cannot be redeemed if photocopied or replicated"

I wonder if I went to self service checkout, would a photocopy be scanned?

    • +9

Mate every voucher since the first has had that printed. I always use photocopied and no one cares lol. Alternatively you can just take a stack from the petrol station…

  • Thanks OP.

  • Cheers OP

  • Thanks OP.

  • OP which petrol station did you get the voucher??

  • +1

would be great if it covers OPAL recharge…

    • +2

It should be. Used it during the last promotion.

      • +2

Thats what I always do, recharge OPAL..

      • +1

Opal recharges worked in the first promotion, the subsequent ones, the Opal recharges are part of the selected services that they've excluded.

    • It doesn't anymore. I tried today and it didn't work. The supervisor said it has to be $100 of grocery items now.

    • Can confirm it doesn't inculde opal recharges, tried today but it had no effect

      • The first one I got from caltex maybe 6 weeks ago worked for Opal, but last one I got printed on bottom of receipt 2 weeks ago did not work for opal.Told it was under the "selected service" which was excluded. :(

    • Use the code, then use those Woolworths Gift Card (already 5% off) to buy gift cards?

    • +1

Should work. Used it for JB Hi-fi gift cards last time round.

    • +3

Pay with gift cards from the Amex Dan Murphys deal for extra 15% saving?

    • would these work with gift card purchases? The condition excludes gift cards

      • I haven't tried it with buying a woolworth gift card but works with toys r us gift card… I just buy all my stuff i need then throw in a $30 or $50 toys r us card to get that $100 total.

        • @Frozensage: is this using self checkout? I might try this as I do need to buy about $100 worth of gift from toys r us this weekend. will try buying 2 $50 gift card together with couple of mints tomorrow

      • +1

        Useful app. Thanks.

  • The Kleenex Cottonelle Toilet Tissue Bamboo 8pk is $6.69 for 1 pack or $9.99 for 3 packs, that's under 42c a roll, not a bad price.

    https://www2.woolworthsonline.com.au/Shop/Search/Products?se…

    • +1

      Cottonelle is too soft though.

      • +2

maybe the bamboo will help with strength

    • 23.125c/100 sheets.

Similar price to Woolies 12 pack (24c/100 sheets)
      Quilton 24 pack (26c/100 sheets)

Both are 3 ply. I'm waiting for a special that's below 20c/100 sheets.

  • Would these work with telstra recharge?

    • Yep. I've used a coupon for that before.

  • Also possible to get 5% off if you purchase discounted Everday Wish Gift Cards. You can use Entertainment Book or Cash Rewards or Groupon (currently).

  • Strange, last time I used it with Optus recharge in woolies SA it didnt work, the cashier said the recharge is excluded!

    • I usually get my recharges when Big W have a 10% off Family and Friends weekend and use e-giftcards to pay. The vouchers have about a 12 mth expiry.

  • I just spent over $150 on groceries yesterday at Woolies and only got a $5 discount voucher (a seperate A5 flyer, different from the $10 discount I got the previous time being printed on the register docket).

    • do you mind scan and send me one though pm?

  • -2

I was given a voucher stating $10 offer for purchase of $100 and tried to use it in prior its expiry. It didn't work and I ended up with paying full amount. Spoke to Everyday Customer support and they tended me to speak to the Store…. Well, forget about it and I won't believe these offer any more. To me, spending $100 in one shopping trip is not easy and I simply over spent my money. Flybuys is much better in this regard coz you have points earned on every shopping. No wonder why wws performed so bad in the past quarter.

    • +2

You have to toughen up and speak up at the counter. If it didn't work then they need to apply the discount manually. I wouldn't accept a non-working voucher, especially if what I've done has matched the conditions presented. At the very least it's false advertising, to cause someone to go out of their way for a discount that was reneged on. I know it's embarrassing to stand there and demand that they honour the voucher, but unless you do, you'll just get walked over.

My advice is to send a copy of the receipt and the voucher to the store manager and demand a credit. It's worth it, even if it's just to make sure they don't do it again. Stand up for yourself darkjazz. :)

    • +2

What divergent said is right. You should've speaked up and tell them. If it doesnt work and you meet the condition the staffs would have to give it to you.. I work at woolies and this happens quite a lot. MOST of the time if the staff is nice they'll do it for you, but there's just SOME that are lazy and wont bother. My point is you should've told the staffs that the voucher wasn't working and if they cant do anything leave. I'm assuming you bought quite a lot of items for $100 and most of the time the staffs would give it regardless if they're lazy or not because its too much of a hassle to return those items back..

This is just my experience working at woolies. And as you mentioned, Coles IS better than woolies in every aspect. From sales, promotions, staffs and even salary.. lol

      • you don't sound like a very proud and passionate staffs?

        • +2

to be honest nope. Been working there for 4 years already. Seen the bad and the worse from woolies that people outside of the company might not see. Nothing to be proud of. I mean there's no sense of achievement. What's there to be passionate about? Im just working as a checkout supervisor, do i love the job? NO.. Do i hate the job? Kinda. There is no future in woolies hence why i have another job. Only reason im still there is because of the friends and the extra pocket money.. It does sound like im dissing woolies but its the truth, if i had the chance to work with coles i'll jump on straight away. As mentioned before coles provide better benefits than woolies. Again just my experience working for woolies for that long.. LOL

        • @piggiepanda: I have a friend who works there as a manager. He said pretty much what you did. It's gone down hill a lot. He used to LOVE his job there, up until early this year.
I've also found that Woolies HQ don't seem to give a damn any more. I've stopped shopping online because I was sick of getting food that expired that day (eg. 5 kilos of mince).

  • Did not work on opal for me just now… Lady scanned three times but coupon (and it was an original copy too) was "invalid"… The lady was no help, her stance was pretty much " tough luck because the system wouldnt accept it and the money had been loaded". Disappointed. :-(

    • Which store? I successfully used similar voucher at parramatta store about 3 weeks back

      • Cabramatta

    • +1

Most likely out of stock again.. That's what happened last time, each store is set to a limit.

      • That's pretty odd for the limit to be reached so fast, considering that I went when it was 8am… But its possible… :/

    • Lady scanned three times but coupon (and it was an original copy too) was "invalid"… The lady was no help, her stance was pretty much " tough luck because the system wouldnt accept it and the money had been loaded".

The money isn't supposed to be loaded until the transaction (payment) goes through. That lady is an idiot.
Some Woolies you can set custom amounts of Opal recharge too (ANY amount, I usually go for $40 if it's spend $30, save $10), it depends on the machine at the store.
Old lady kept saying you couldn't, I kept insisting you could, and luckily theres a younger bloke who does it easily without any trouble. Usually the younger staff are more knowledgeable in the Opal recharge section, seems like the older staff don't want to learn how to use the system to the best of their ability.

      • +1

I don't think it's possible to charge any amount.

        Opal card retailer
Retail top up with cash, or a debit/credit card*

        Adult Opal card: $10, $20, $40, $60, $80, $100 and $120
        Gold Senior/Pensioner Opal card: $2.50, $5, $10 $20, $30, $40, $50 and $60
        Concession Opal card: $5, $10, $20, $30, $40, $50 and $60
        Child/Youth Opal card: $5, $10, $20, $30, $40, $50 and $60

        https://www.opal.com.au/en/about-opal/how-do-top-up-my-opal-…

        • Never seen that list.. I will try charge my concession opal by $100 this time :p

    • +1

Funny how its been loaded but you havent paid im assuming? You could easily cancel it and they would have to figure out a way to refund the amount placed in your card (which from what im aware none?)..

      • I wasn't completely sure how the whole thing works as it was my first time but what she did was loaded 60 + 40 amounts for my concession opal (since no 100 option), scanned the epay barcode slips at the register ( amounted to 100 transaction), then scanned the voucher but came up invalid… (I had already given her my money in the beginning)
From the way she was acting she made it seem like the transaction was not reversiblle… and to be honest, I didn't want to escalate it further since she seemed to have an attitude. Thanks for the insight though, I'll be sure to be speak up next time!

        • +2

Just so you know how the opal thing works, when adding amount to opal you're not supposed to do 2 different amounts in 1 transaction. Because what happens is that for example you want to add $60:
          = the staff enters $60
= the staff takes the epay barcode scans it
= on the epay machine it shows something along the line like "payment received?"
= Here the staff would press YES on the epay machine (this means the $60 has been added to the opal card despite transaction not complete)

Then the staff adds another $40:
          = the staff enters $40
= the staff takes the epay barcode scans it
= on the epay machine it shows again something along the line like "has the transaction been approved?"
= THEN once you properly paid everything the staff would press YES and the receipt will come out from both the epay AND the register.

How many receipts did you get? You should be getting 3? ($60, $30 and Total $100?)

        • @piggiepanda: ah… I didn't bother getting the epay receipts; only have the woolies receipt. But since you are saying that, not sure if the receipt came from both the epay AND the register. It was only when I was walking away when she noted me of the epay receipt which I didnt bother.

  • Didn't work for me too :(

Anyone have alternative ones, please pm me?

  • +1

Can confirm it didn't work in Sydney CBD.

It was counted as a "select service" from the T&Cs

    • +1

You sure its not working at town hall

      • Amount stayed at $100 after voucher was applied. Cashier called over manager who said it was part of selected services.

Sorry to confirm, I meant for opal card recharge.

        • Sometimes after the voucher has been scanned it might not straight away appear the discount. The staff needs to press enter so the screen changes to payment method then normally the discount gets applies. Or in this case it might be for selected services?

        • +1

          @piggiepanda:
I think Woolie caught up from the last promotion and updated Opal recharge as not part of the discount.

        • +2

@DarkOz: Yeah I reckon this opal recharge + woolies discount has reached the end of its run. I'm surprised they let it go on for so long. I imagine they lose money on each transaction - unless Transport NSW gives them more than 10% margin for selling opal recharges… would be interested if anyone knows for sure.

        • @georgedn:

Yeah you are right. I didn't expect Woolie to make a profit of over $10 per every $100 recharged for Opal. They must have made a loss from it last time. Naturally I was pleasantly surprised when Opal recharge was included. I even went to a Caltex petrol station and got myself a few original vouchers to prevent any chance of a Woolie worker not accepting photocopies. Oh well, it was worth a try.

        • @DarkOz: can you confirm if all of your original voucher had same code?

        • +1

          @lokesh7:
I only took one with me and I still have it in my wallet.

The online code is the same as OP 'XQSBAGQG' but the bar code is '9 300633 499402'.

I will check the bar codes on the other vouchers when I get home later today.

        • +1

          @lokesh7:
Just checked the other vouchers. All bar codes are the same as well.

        • @DarkOz: thanks for confirming mate

  • Time for opal recharge time.

    • +1

      Good luck!

Just got Coles 50x4 with 10000 points, sounds better?

    • +1

It would be nice to be able to spend $140 every week on groceries. Jealous! ;)

  • +1

Just tried Opal recharge of $100 but it failed. The system rejected it twice.

  • +1

Looks like woolies is tightening up a bit on coupon offers.

I just bought a case of beer at BWS using a $10 off coupon I got on my woolies docket. It didn't scan, & the cashier pulled another docket out from below her counter & scanned that instead to give me the $10 discount. She said they can take 10 mins to become active, each docket has a unique code now. I told her they used to be same code on every receipt. She said yeah, but too many people passed them around for others to use so now each coupon code is unique. She put my coupon under the counter to use for another customer later.

  • Tried at Wolli Creek Woolies for Opal recharge just now and original voucher didn't work.

  • Merged from Woolworths - $10 off When You Spend $100+ (August 24 - September 6)

Don't forget 5% off Wish Gift Cards and cashback for online orders.

Similar to spacecowboy's deal, but with a different coupon. This is deal is good for people who have already used the previous XQSBAGQG code.

Received this coupon at a Masters in Melbourne this morning. Started August 24th, valid for 2 weeks, until the 6th of September. Most likely valid for all of Australia.

'Present this coupon to receive $10 off when you spend $100 or more in a single transaction at Woolworths Supermarkets from 24th August until Sunday 6th September. Excludes purchases on Liquor, Smoking/Tobacco products, Gift Cards, Gift Idea items and selected services. One voucher per transaction only. Not valid in conjunction with any other discount. Voucher cannot be redeemed if photocopied or replicated. For your online offer go to woolworthsonline.com.au for full terms.'

    • Can someone please explain how I would use this at a self serve checkout. Do I just scan the barcode (from on my phone?) like any item I am purchasing, and it will show up as a -$10 item? Or is there some option you need to select during payment? Thanks.

      • Yes just scan it and press the pay button, then it will -10 in the final price

        • Thanks. If it doesn't scan correctly will it just ignore the item, or will I have to explain to attendant that I scanned a barcode off my phone that clearly states not to be replicated!

    • Also C87H4VKV. Same offer. Different code. I am away from home snd can not do a proper post.

    • I tried use stocard with this barcode in one Woolies, but be told cannot use this unless I have an original coupon.

    • Wouldn't let me use a similar coupon when I spend $100 which included Vodafone recharges (in store).

    • use self serve

  • Doesn't work self service either.

  • Used the voucher today on my phone at the self checkout, no problems, thanks OP.

Saved $10 plus got my bonus week $15 voucher on the receipt for today's shop and, waiting for the $30 gift card in the mail.

Total of $55 for doing what I normally do? No complaints here ^_^
