isn't there another version of this phone that supports NextG?

yep, this is the one you want for Australia as it supports all our 3G bands.

I think it support 850 but the spec seems is wrong.

the specs are right. There's several variants. DO NOT buy the one in the OP. Rather the one I linked to above is better suited to Australia, specifically Telstra and Vodafone.

        • So if I have Aldimobile and Vodafone will this work on both sims at least 3G on both for this variant?

        • US $176 Yowzah!

        • +1

          @lehboy:
Without 850 it will be terrible for both aldi(Telstra) and Vodafone.

        • @ilikeit: Price drop on this model, now US $169.99 (white only)

    • Yeah I wouldn't be getting this if I was on Telstra or Vodafone. Only has Band 3 LTE support and doesn't have 3G 850mhz. So if you are out of LTE coverage there's a fair chance it won't be able to find a 3G network to fall back on and revert to 2G since neither carrier has wide 2100mhz 3G. (In fill network)

Hopefully someone can confirm if indeed it does support 850mhz?

      • i've read on other forums it is fine (whirlpool)

if you read OP, it says there is a russian version with 850

      • That is not correct.
some areas support 4g, everywhere support 3g for sim 1 from my experiences, which I am using telstra postpaid

    • Yeah would be good if this was on sale.

    • update on the K3 note - JD.com also sell a "russian" version which is $135.99 which has the following:
      -2G: GSM 900/1800/1900MHz
      -3G: WCDMA 850/900/1900/ 2100MHz
      -4G: FDD-LTE 1800/2100 / 2600MHz

  • Is this the same phone as the deal few down just few mins ago?

    • yes

  • +2

    delivery 60 days !!!!!

    • +1

Yep and I think mine took approx. 45 days on last JD deal.

  • -3

Anyway to buy 2 Lenovo phones with different JD accounts using promo code in each one, and pay express delivery (EMS 15 days, USD$ 21.06) only once for both?. If articles come from same seller it should be possible.

    • +1

Yea it should be possible because no one would suspect it.

  • -3

bloody hell, meizu M2 note would be perfect if only it had microSD support :(

    • +4

it does support up to 128 gb, using sim1 slot

    • +3

      It does.

Got a "and/or" sim slot. U either have 2 simcards or a sim + microsd

Pretty handy and innovative if u ask me. After all, I'm not a drug dealer and really don't need 2 active simcards all the time.

I am getting one so I looked up.

      • +2

Dont need to be a drug dealer.
Dual sim is good for a Data Sim and a Voice sim.
Its an Ozbargainers dream really. All those cheap stater kits work really well and you get to keep your primary number.

    • +3

      http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=6992&idPhone2=…

It does and it's similar to the Redmi Note 2. Redmi Note 2 has 46% higher score on Antutu, quick charging and a radio but costs $50ish more.

      • im glad to be wrong on this! no FM radio though :(

        • There is a radio for sure. been using for months

        • +1

@helnandez: FM radio in the xiaomi, I meant - I know the Lenovo has one.

      • Price is dropping as September marks a whole batch of new models and brands to come out including the mainstream from Samsung and Crapple. The Helios X10 (MT6795) ones should be out then as well and the market will get even tougher.

  • Elephone 8000 no good for Aldi/Telechoice. Lenovo is.

    • +1

Depending on which Lenovo you get. There's several versions supporting different 3G bands.

      • So I thought but then found out they are all the same - K50-t5. Some sellers are too lazy to list the proper specs/bands.

        • that's very odd considering the web site in the OP lists several different prices.

        • +1

@Phoebus: I'll most likely be due to a different seller than the initial listing and nothing more. When I bought this phone from JD, there was the same issue with the same specs as this Russian listed but then they changed the listing when clarity was sought. Happy to be called wrong on this.
Check the previous K3 JD offer link for details as well as Whirlpool for this discussion.

The issue with technology. Bargainers spend hours scouring the net for a good deal (if not already present), then spend a following few hours testing coupons over and over until finally finding one that sheds a couple bucks and buy with the feeling of bargain glory… Then find a deal like this a week later, rendering all effort as almost useless.

    (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻)

    • How's that technology issue? That's issue with too much time!

      • Technology progresses fast enough that by the time we actually buy something, in the not too distant future, it'll be cheaper.

        • You might as well not buy anything then if thats the thought process of waiting for future price drops or future technology.

        • +1

@bchliu: Correct. But when I need to get something and actually buy it, I always see it even cheaper not that soon after. It's just saddening.

        • +2

          @mafmouf:
Thats always going to be the case. Just spend, and be happy with what you got. At least you didnt pay Retail price on it - thats what counts the most.. hehe

  • Thnx

  • +5

Bought this phone last deal posted here from JD.com, took around 30 days for phone to arrive.
Phone comes with a lot of adware, popups every minite or two when using the phone. Who know what is also installed…

First thing I did was install the indian stock ROM onto the phone.(Which is English)

Great phone once you Root and change to stock ROM.

    • +1

@damned which phone are you talking about, which is better out of 3

      • +1

        Lenovo K3 Note
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/199212

Was bought for the wife to replace her IPhone. Great phone but doesn't compare to apple or Samsung phones. She went back to her IPhone.

I own a Samsung note if you don't mind paying the extra its a lot better phone. But for a sub $200 dual sim phone its great.

        • Thanks

        • +1

exactly this. bought mine from the last jd deal for my wife to replace iphone. i should have known better. great phone for previous android users but the camera and shutter speed just dont compare at all to a GS6/iphone 6. the OS MUST be flashed to the english non bloated version. Her phone works perfectly fine, but shes just annoyed at working her way around android when being stuck to iOS all these years.

from my perspective, its probably than my Jiayu S3 which i paid $250 for.

        • Interesting. The Samsung phones I've used in the last few years have always been problematic. The Zenfone 6 I have now would be almost perfect if not for some compatibility issues with the x86 cpu.

      • Yeah I want to know too, and go they work with optus 4g network or if they have sd card slot.

        • +2

I bought K3 Note from last JD deal. Using it on Virgin 4G (optus APN). I also changed it b immediately to ROW rom before putting my sim card in or connecting to WiFi, due to the dodgy stock software. I didn't root the phone as I want to retain OTA updates. The phone does have a micro SD slot but 32GB only by many accounts.

Edit: I actually got it for 126 USD last time.

      • +1

The Lenovo is fastest of the three by a good 10-15% margin in scores because of a faster CPU. Funnily the 6752 is faster than the 6753 but prone to overheat more if the design is not good for heat dissipation. Lenovo should be ok against this though..

  • damn the elephone looks good. apple samsung please look at these prices!

    • apple samsung please look at these prices!

But why? Wouldn't you just buy one of these phones?

    • +2

The big two brands aren't cheap but remember R&D isn't free. Marketing is especially expensive as well.

  • I've always wondered how this dual sim situation work.
Ie - in my case I have 2 phones I carry around, 1 for work 1 for personal.
If your running on a phone with dual SIMs, can you receive calls on either SIM whilst both are registered to the network?
Can you allocate which sim to use for calls, and then allocate which SIM to use for data?
Its always thrown me off from moving to something like this.

    • +6

      Yes

      • +3

Yes what? to everything i have asked? its all possible?

        • +4

          Indeed

    • Most dual sim mobile phone only one sim slot support 3G/4G networks, while the other SIM is GSM.
Note. Telstra and Optus have announced the closure of their GSM networks in 2016/17.

      • this second phone on the deal can do both 4g!

    • From what I experienced with Lenovo K3 Note, the main slot can support 3G/4G. When you insert another SIM to the other slot, you can only use that SIM for 2G, i.e. dial out/receive calls.

  • confused with 3G bands, much, B5 or not B5 ?

    • for the Miezu - according to specs the phone uses GSM/GPRS/EDGE(850/900/1800/1900MHz)

      850MHz (B5) – Telstra, Vodafone

update on the K3 note - JD.com also sell a "russian" version which is $135.99 which has the following:
      -2G: GSM 900/1800/1900MHz
      -3G: WCDMA 850/900/1900/ 2100MHz
      -4G: FDD-LTE 1800/2100 / 2600MHz

      • +2

If ordered via the Russian language site, the white version is also USD 155.99 → USD 135.99 after discount.

Whereas on the English language site, the white version is USD 164.99 → USD 144.99 after discount.

        • When I select the Russian model, I get the following message: "Sorry! This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. Please change the shipping destination or remove the item from your order." Any ideas?

  • Anybody know if the Meizu is compatible with the Telstra or Vodafone 4g bands?

    • according to specs the meizu uses these bands applicable to Australian carriers-

2300MHz (B40) TDD – Optus (Vivid wireless spectrum), NBN
2600MHz (B7) FDD – Optus, Telstra. (TPG have a license but have not announced plans for it.)

  • +1

I have lenovo k3 note 4g bought from last month's jd deal. It took about 30 days to arrive and yes I had to install ROW rom which took about 10 minutes after downloading the ROW rom. I'm on Vodafone 4g network and it works perfectly. So far I like the phone, has a decent build quality. Hope it helps :)

  • any chinese cheap phone like these on the post but with 6" screen?
not huawei they are not that cheap, but i dont like some very unknown brands aswell

  • Can anyone comment on the quality of the camera? Also, I am on Telechoice (3G), will this found work?

    • Yes the K3 works on TC (900Mhz 3G)

      • Telechoice uses Telstra, so wouldn't it need 850MHz (B5) and 2100MHz (B1) from this model that Phoebus mentioned at the top of the comments: http://en.jd.com/product/Lenovo-Lemo-K3-Note-K50-T5-5-5-inch…

I'm very interested, but not too knowledgeable able mobile bands, so any help is appreciated.

        • TC doesn't use Telstra's NextG (850MHz 3G) nor Telstra's 4G networks, but the Telstra 3G 900MHz wholesale network. Same with Aldi.

        • Sorry I meant k3 works on Telechoice Telstsa 850 mhz

Stay away from Chinese Phones unless they are international version.

All Google apps are blocked in Chinese firmware.

My friend has a flagship Huawei which he can't use Google, Gmail, Youtube or Facebook.

I asked Huawei Engineers about this issue. Their justification is that Google blocked by GFW, so they blocked it in firmware for sake of user experience.

    • +2

isn't this why people flash the ROM?

      • Yes. Only if you can root the phone first, otherwise you have an Android phone without access to Google.

        • +2

That's not true, you just need to check before buying the phone if google apps is installed. A few stores also root and install roms with google apps installed.

Or you can just do it urself. YouTube has plenty of videos on howto.

        • +5

otherwise you have an Android phone without access to Google

That's like sitting next to your naked girlfriend with your hands tied.

        • +2

          @ms: unless that is foreplay?

        • +3

          @altomic:
Not in case of Chinese mobiles unless you are capable of rooting.

        • +1

Another reason people flash stock roms because handsets were subsidized by adware in firmware.

        • @ms:
          +1 for rooting

        • Root not required to flash K3 Note to international version with full Google apps and no bloatware. Took 10 minutes.

        • Once rooted, all warranty is void.

          When it breaks, tough luck!

      • go to get carbon rom on XDA, all sorted then.
        great phone

    • +1

Don't talk bullshit,I have the Meizu M2 Note and it DOESN'T block Google apps.

    • That's why you root your phone, isn't it?

  • +1

Using the PayPal currency converter USD 136.99 equates to AUD 193.04 (not AUD 180). The phone is listed as quad band WCDMA on every other site I've seen (check gsmarena). There is much info on the K3 Note Whirlpool thread (60 pages) http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2393953

    • +1

I believe PayPal has a notoriously bad conversion rate. Avoid if possible.

      • +1

yes. avoid paypal. 28 degrees or citibank.

        • +1

Using today's rates, here is a comparison of prices using different purchase methods:

          28 Degrees AUD 187.40 [0.731]

          Citibank Plus AUD 189.21 [0.724]

          PayPal AUD 194.31 [0.705]

Hopefully, my calculations are correct :-)

        • Or BankWest platinum

  • Damn, feel buyers remorse after getting the Xiaomi mi4i :( $100 more….

  • Hi, I am on liveconnect, will the 3g and 4g work on the lenovo? TIA. Sorry for the noob question.

    • +3

Liveconnect uses Optus dual band (2100/900MHz) for 3G and uses the 1800 mhz band for 4G.

so the K3 is perfect for the 3G + 4G Optus network

  • I wonder what the SAR rating is for these chinese phones?

Watch this vid of Chinese copies being tested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiJrC2TKgrY

    • +1

K3 Note has a barely legal SAR of 1.59. But iPhone 6+ also has SAR of 1.59. So bottom line, get a LG G3, SAR of 0.42

The max legal SAR is 1.6, so you can imagine that iphone 6+ and K3 Note are essentially cancer sitting in the palm of your hand lol.

      • Thanks for the info, I was considering this phone before.

      • what about the SAR score for Meizu?
