Qantas Points Auto Reward - $20 WISH eGift Card for 3,000 pts

141

I have always been looking for cheaper ways to claim gift cards from QANTAS and I came across this auto reward program. This is cheaper than you claim them in Qantas store, normally $25 for 3,900 pts.

How it works:
You could automatically receive a Woolworths WISH eGift Card^ up to the value of $20, four times a year. We total up your Qantas Points on the 1st of February, May, August and November. Your points balance on those dates determines the value of the Woolworths WISH eGift Card^ we will email to you.

We’ll then deduct the points from your account, and any remaining points can be used towards other great rewards, or could count towards your next Woolworths WISH eGift Card^.

Thanks, didn't think of that. How do I move it there? Or I need to wait for a mod to act on that?

Or you can sell your qantas points for more cash in classifed section……

And break the program terms and conditions, and risk losing all points, money and your FF membership?

This is still terrible value. $20 for 3000 points is less than $0.007 per point. You can redeem points upwards of $0.06 each if you plan.

      • drewbles, how do you redeem points upwards of $0.06? I think when I was doing rough calculations last time, best I was getting was around $0.02/point.

eWish gift card has always been $100 for 15,000 points.

Yes, that's when you claim $100.

Which is exactly the same terrible value as the $20 for 3000 ($0.006666 per point).

I think that it is more for people who have no need for flights.

I've always wondered about this - isn't it better to just wait until you get a good bargain on a flight, and just use the points for everyday expenses like groceries/fuel etc (on the giftcard).

Because if you use the points for an international flight, you'll be slogged with massive taxes, which would be close enough (I'm guessing 75%) of what you'd pay anyway without points?

Yes, use the point to save you from spending real money, rather than wasting them on "upgrades" or massively overpriced fares.

I've traveled business class many times and I don't consider an upgrade to business class to have any real value.

Thanks. My only source of QFF points is via Woolworth's EDR, so I get very little points. I've been waiting years to redeem anything. I personally get much better value from Flybuys.

I use Velocity for credits cards etc, so that's where I have bulk points that I save for flights.

The $30 min spend on EDR's really hurts my points collecting when it comes to groceries given my shopping trends are to do three or so small shops a week as opposed to one big one.
