Whats normal price for gold class at village cinemas?

    • +1

      $30 during the week,
$40 thursday nights, friday & weekends
      each.
      from memory

    • Seems to be $30 each. So saving up to at least $40 with this deal if all are used.

      Edit: oops, beaten.

Expires 16 September. Crap deal as have to use in one month

    • +2

are there even any good movies coming out in the next month?

      • +1

        Pixels :D ;)

    • +8

There are some people who could knock that out easily.
For me the value is pretty eh, as I find gold class is only worth it if you want to buy their overpriced food and wine, in which case the ticket price is the least of your concern. But I know a guy who goes every week, who would really benefit from this. If only he will give the paranoia a rest (he claims the internets full of pirates and hackers, and they apparently are all desperate for his basic details)

      Thanks for posting Op!

You have to elaborate on your friend… it seems very interesting.

      • Anyone who goes to Gold Class every week would do well to invest in a decent projector-based home theatre. Sure it may take some time to get your money back but you can't put a price on having a private Gold Class cinema at home with the ability to hit pause when you go the loo. You'd also be much more likely to use it more often that once a week.

The only downside is waiting for a new release to be available for home screening.

Eh, that's two dates with the missus. Easy.

  • Seen any for Event? WA

  • +1

so wait .. the only one in NSW is aubury ?

    • +1

ya, not worth 5+ hrs drive ;-)

  • +5

Remember it costs $5 for the booking fee per ticket. This is on top of the cost of the ticket.

    • +1

This kills off the deal as booking fee adds no value to customer. Just another way of businesses saying "we want more $$$ outta you!"

      • +1

And illustrates why people have moved away from cinemas in droves.

    • Thats online only though right?

      • Yeah thats right

      • +2

yeh but it's hard to go in and get the ticket on the same day because it can get booked out on busy nights. If it's not, the front could aisle could be free but it's not a comfortable viewing experience.

  • +1

If its only available in Victoria, can you add that to the title then?

    • As per very end of OP.

      TAS: Hobart
      NSW: Albury

  • +1

Not valid after 5pm Friday or Saturday nights.

Should OzBargainers ever be going to Gold Class?

Surely "slightly comfier seats for $10 more" is the the opposite of a bargain (especially in those cinemas where the gold class screen is actually smaller).

    • +1

We might be members of ozbargain, but partners and family members are not and generally like to go to places like these ;)

  • +1

I've been to Gold Class a few times. Yeah its nice but not worth the money they charge and the F&B is extortionate. There are very few movies that actually require a giant screen to watch it properly (Avatar, IMAX etc). I would much rather curl up on my own couch under a blanket, in front of my 55" LED TV, with a movie I can start and stop whenever I want, with whatever F&B I want at a much more reasonable price.

    • +3

Well, while I agree on the "home cinema" concept, there are situations - usually involving a female companion - where the actual cinema has its advantages (at least from her point of view).
In that case the GC is much better than the normal seating, where, with all due respect, a lot of teenagers are spoiling the experience with shouting, using their mobile phones, etc.
So in my case, when not watching movies at my home cinema, I go to the Gold Class.

      • please elaborate on the benefits from her point of view? I'm intrigued.

        • +2

          :-D
Hard for men to understand. Just take it as a matter of fact.
Women for some reason prefer more socialized environment for their culture entertainment.
For some reason the cinema visit is highly rated than home TV session despite the later having better technical parameters :-)
Trust me. Based on Years of experience.

  • My last few cinema experiences has left me wishing to never again.

    Reasons:

People singing along to the movies theme song.

Narrating who is who in the movie and what shows or other movies they were/are in.

Captain obvious comments..e.g. did you see that? Oh thats so cool… He has a remote control car.

Chatting your boyfriend or girlfriend up during the movie.

Seriously. Is it so hard to STFU when watching a movie in the cinemas?

And dont get me started on those who proceeds to check their phones or make/receive calls or text.

I don't give two (profanity) what you do in your own home while watching a movie but when in public learn to shut your trap and only open it if your shovelling popcorn or other snacks in.

    /rant

    TL; DR

If these movie tickets get me away from the above. Then its worth it weight in gold.

    • Try The Astor. Great value and patrons respect the cinema experience.

  • Showing sold out.
