I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but max power literally means nothing
No sarcasm…so if it means nothing why use it in your ads.
Not supercheaps fault (I'm only a casual anyway, hah), its just a value that nearly all companies use on their products. RMS power is what you should be looking at.
Do tell…I need at least 150-200w in each door.Do you know if they are on display in store.
RMS on these is probably 40w or so. They should be on display in store. Unless you're running an amplifier these speakers should be fine, obviously they are on the lower end of the spectrum. Your best bet is to have a listen to them, as different speakers will sound different
@bhubb18: Theoretically, RMS value = Max/sqrt(2) = 141.4w
Might blow your doors off with the epic spl these speakers will produce.
@btdroppedbox:
Doof Doof Doof
But how is the sound quality? Would these be better than stock speakers?
Most likely.
much better than stock, i have the 3-way model just above this…again from SCA.
Depends on what the stock speakers are, obviously ;)
Would you attract the wrong crowd (police??) if you install a loud speaker in your car?
The speakers don't have to be loud.
In fact "better" speakers are typically less efficient (sensitive) than the cheap paper factory crap due to the cross over and such, and therefore quieter using the same head unit.
You won't find a crossover in speakers like these, just a protection capacitor. Reduced efficiency is most likely due to the compromise in motor design - greater Xmax (bass cone excursion capability) means lower efficiency (for a given magnet size).
Attracting the "wrong crowd" as you call them, can only happen if you are doing the 'wrong thing'.
Depending on which state you are in, there are road rules in place that involve 'driver distraction' or 'failure to maintain proper control'.
Pumping the music up to the point that you cant hear lights and sirens of emergency vehicles, or for that matter any warning horn from other cars would easily satisfy breaking those laws.
It doesnt have to be on 'loud' to be good. Use commonsense.
Depends on the cops. (I once had 510W x 4 speakers at almost full volume next to a cop car but he did not seem to care)
Is this for a pair or just one speaker?
uhh good question, i thought these speakers only come in pairs?
I don't know. Never bought speakers before
Will I sound fully sic with my 6.5 speakers at the next Street meet bro?
theres enjoying good quality sound in your car
then theres that.
definitely need sub-woofer and amp for that. Need tweeters too for highs.
I bought this yesterday at the Bondi Junction store (2 left in the stand but who knows, they might have more in the back). Much better than the 24 year old stock speakers in my MX5. It's $20 so don't expect to have your mind/ear drums blown. I really can't complain though because of the price and I'm happy with it.
any chance they came with mounting adapters for smaller sizes?
No mounting adapters, just the speakers.
So was it $20 for a pair or each ?
$20 for the pair.
comes with mounting adapters to fit smaller sizes?
200w max…Nice
