Glayva Scotch Liqueur - 2x1L Bottles for $65 (40% off) @ First Tax & Duty Free

20

just got back this morning from o/s and was browsing the duty free on my way out at Tulla airport. I blind bought a one litre bottle of Galyva and Jameson's Whiskey for $65. If you buy 2 bottles of Glayva it's a 40% discount off the normal duty free price.

I did some research when i got home and noticed the Glayva is $46 for 500ml at Dan Murphys so do the maths (that's 65% cheaper for those who're too lazy to do the maths). It also has very good reviews on Dan Murphy's website.

  • Only available if you're entering or exiting the country, yes?

    • And "duty free" items are usually half the price of this at the departing airports anyway.

Edit: Oh wait, you said 2 for $65, my bad that's pretty cheap.

    • yes, you need to buy it when you're eligible for duty free price.

@pood: i checked prices at LAX and alcohol was about the same or even slightly more due to the terrible usd exchange rate. Also, at the risk of being negged, i'm willing to pay up to $5 more not to have to carry bottles onto and off the plane.

  • Does that mean all alcohol products on their website are deals?

My opinion not available to Australia - you're technically not in Australia on purchase.

    • you're technically not in Australia on purchase.

I would suggest (with some knowledge of the subject) that you are in Australia the moment your flight lands.

Unless things have changed in the last 10 years, NOPE!

Until you clear customs you are in international territory.

Customs kicked a friend of mine between the legs for not declaring a box of duty free chocolates he bought for his mum at a duty free shop after his flight had landed at Brisbane International, but he had not yet passed through customs and technically he was not yet in Australia.
