Price is good if you make the occasional glass. If you are more serious about juicing then you want something bigger and better.

That one review doesn't look good.

  • does this convert fruit drink into pure juice…

  • Not even worth $10 if its a high speed centrifugal juicer. The juice yield compared to a slow speed cold press juicer is minimal and you will waste a ton of money on fruit and veg. Better to get the best to start with and you will save heaps each time you use your real cold press juicer 😃

I absolutely disagree with you, the pulp that comes out of mine (meaning another model) is almost dry.

I just hate the design of these centrifugal things because it's such a PITA to clean it's not worth the effort to start with lel.

      • There are a number of YouTube videos (look up discountjuicers.com on youtube - that guy has lots of good videos about all kinds of juicers) which show actual use comparisons between high-speed centrifugal juicers and cold-press slow juicers. My response above was not quite correct, or not well explained. By yield, I was referring to quality of the yield, as well as quantity (in a number of examples - but NOT ALL). The problem with high-speed centrifugal juicers is that they obliterate the fruit and veg so fast that it introduces heat to the yield (arguments that this kills the enzymes in the fruit/veg) but also a whole lot of air which immediately starts to oxidise the yield. Result is that in most cases, the "juice" that comes out of a centrifugal juicer is already separated and has a layer of froth or foam on top of the juice that is full of air (like an Aero bar) and when compared side-by-side to a slow speed juicer, juicing the same amount of product, the froth juice consumes a lot of space that is filled by actual juice in the comparison glass from the slow-speed cold-press juicer, and hence, actual juice yield is more with the slow speed juicer as there is a lot less air in the mix, and little or no froth. I think my slow-speed juicer can be a pain in the bum to clean, but yeah, probably a lot easier than with these centrifugal juicers (I have heard).

Here are some of those videos I mentioned above… Just skip to the ends where he actually does the juicing. A fair bit of waffle at the start of each, although this waffle contains a lot of good info all the same. But take a look… You might be surprised by the results:

      • I'll throw my 2 cents worth in. I have a greenstar GS-3000 juicer and the pulp is DRY. I have used many other brands of centrifugal and other masticating ones like the champion and single auger models and nothing comes close for carrots or leafy greens. I was actually quite disappointed with the champion for it's hype. The only one I know of that get better results is a norwalk press - if you can find one. But why compare a $10 juicer to a $1000 juicer (or US$3000 in the case of a norwalk). It's like comparing a kmart bike to a Ferrari.

Like I said earlier for the occasional juice, great but if you are serious about juice like PCAviator, Diji1 and abc (and me) you will want something bigger and better.

    • It depends what you are juicing. IMO A centrifugal juicer beats a masticating juicer if you are only juicing hard fruits/veges (eg. Apples, Carrots).

If you are also juicing leafy greens and soft fruits/veges then a masticating juicer is better. Although I feel a blender such as a Vitamix beats a juicer hands down as you retain the fibre and nutrients. Any juicer will concentrate the natural sugars and throw out any "balancing" fibre that would normally slow the absorption of sugars if eaten normally.

That all said this juicer looks like a dud. You should get a centrifugal juicer with a large feeder so you don't need to cut up your food prior. Being a small feeder tells me it's probably a weak low power motor and can't handle high volumes.

      • Agree, some juicers are better at certain items than others. Cold-press slow juicers are generally considered to be a great all-around juicer if you can only buy one type. Centrifugal juicers are almost redundant technology now as there are a lot of better options out now, even for hard fruits and veg.

Vitamix is awesome. I started with a Vitamix which I use pretty much every day. It's hard to get a good clean and smooth orange juice or other fruit or veg juice from a Vitamix though so you need a good juicer to do that as well. Sometimes I just prefer a juice over a fibre-filled smoothie. Alternating smoothie & raw juice works for me.

Having a fibre-filled smoothie all the time often results in a lot of time spent on the loo!

Good post but looks like not worth it. Dud design.

    • The design does look like the type you can find at almost any op shop.

Cheap Christmas present for someone you hate.

    • Excellent point. Give annoying aunty the shits at christmas- Great idea.

That won't work too well. As PCAviator says, you should get her a Vitamix if you want to give her the shits.

        • lol

        • I have a vitamix and it does not give me the shits. Besides why spend $1000 on someone you don't like. Buy the vitamix for yourself.

        • @ShipShapeRC: You need to take my post … literally. :)

  • I got one this weekend. So far so good. And for $10, just excellent!
