  • Is this using part of a government scheme or something?

Also what if the electrician attends and finds out the downlights aren't compatible - is there then a callout fee?

    • There is no call out fee if we find the transformer is not compatible, as this is our reponsibility to check compatibility.

Yes, it is a part of VIC government scheme.

      • Thanks for the quick reply, will check it out.

  • I just put in some self claimed 600 lumen down light and the 350 lumen from Aldi, it's ok for general light up but if you want to read properly, keep the Halogen 50w, no way near it!
you can buy those cheaper MR16 for a few dollars each, I just replacement some and keep my eligibility when the real good LED <$10 with VEET Scheme. I'm not paying the $10 for Philips 7 watt yet. someone on Gumtree offer it for $5 each which is worthwhile.

We guarantee our Ecomatters and Primsal products can be as bright as 50W halogen, you will find no difference.

Previously we sell Philip for $4.40. Now its impossible for anyone to sell it for just $5 anymore, as Philips has rised the price (due to short of stock always). It can only be more expensive as the VEEC price will become lower.

I have read halogen lights are approx 900 lumens. I am sceptical that these could possibly be as bright being rated <= 500. I have them in my kitchen so this is important to me.
Do you offer test globes that I could install myself to test overnight to confirm I am happy before committing to the change?

        This is misinformation. 50W 12V halogens produce far more than 440 or 500 lm. e.g. 770lm, 765lm, >800lm, 800-900lm, 900lm, 750-900lm, 800lm.

    • How do you self-claim it?

    • Because of what I'd seen a few years back I thought the same thing as you. But nope, changed mine over a couple of months ago after being allowed to test a couple for a couple of nights, and these Primsals are easily as bright as the Philips, Mirrabella, etc. 50w halogens with just slightly cooler white colour!

    "ZERO COST TO YOUR POCKET".

probably ~$10 per light cost to the government .. which is passed back to the electricity producers and eventually popping up as increased electricity prices and/or taxes .. or something like that .. TANSTAAFL

Very confusing and contradictory terms, says free but then costs come into it too often, then this from website:

"$20 surcharge may apply if customer need to install less than 10 downlights (effective 11 May 2015)"

it says prior to the above, "no hidden charges" then proceeds to tells you about a hidden charge that should have been disclosed up front

something like "free led bulbs (for 10 replacements or over per household)" would have been more up front and truthful!

I suspect its a ploy to get in the door and sign you up to their other services, also be aware if its a government scheme they tend to want to take a photo/s of the installation in your home and get you to confirm over the phone to a call centre that they have installed them, as well as sign numerous documents confirming its been done along with personal information… you will then get regular telemarketing calls for years after selling you discounted electricity and asking how your bulbs are going and if its saved you anything, I did this sort of thing years ago and regretted it, once you had let them in its almost impossible to get rid of them or wipe your info from the database - there is always a price for free
