Free Presto for 6 Months (Telstra Promotion)

6030
PRESTO

Recently signed up for Telstra's XL Bundle, unfortunately, the code for 6 months of free Presto was nowhere to be seen.

After waiting weeks, I decided to take it up with Telstra's 24/7 Chat. The kind gentleman informed me that I could SMS the word 'PRESTO' to 0498 500 400 and receive the special code… PRESTO! It worked.

Also got a few friends to try this that aren't on the Telstra network, and all were successful.

Another code thanks to RogueWolf6 in case the SMS feature above doesn't give you one: TELB6MTH615

Just saw this promo on my T-BOX under information/news, don't think its targeted, find out soon I guess

    • Try again. It worked for me the second time I entered it.

      • I copy pasted it from the message and still not working, no white spaces either. I'm a Telstra customer as well

        • I sent text to that mob number mentioned above and it came with unique code. Used that and it worked like charm :)

        • @b4rgainhunter: My code was not working. I texted that number and got another code. Now it worked for me. Thanks

  • 30 mins nothing yet ..

  • worked thank you.

but until they get a smart tv (lg) app its pretty useless.

    • Chromecast works fine.

    • +1

It was a mistake to buy a smart TV.

Their software gets outdated and they're expensive. Better to buy a cheap dongle that you can replace and update.

  • worked for me, thank you!!

  • Worked for me on amaysim. The promo code wasn't recognised first time but worked when I reentered it so may have been my fault. The promo code is pretty long so be careful typing it in.

  • -4

FYI, if this promo code doesn't work, just send PRESTO to 0498 500 400 and Telstra will send you new code. You can use any mobile network.

    • Cheers mihiroffer. I heard if that promo code also doesn't work, you can just send PRESTO to 0498 500 400 and Telsta will send you a new code. You can use any mobile network.

  • Nice deal But i wouldn't use it every if it where free like this.

    • +5

how many drinks have you had? I've had 2 so far but still not on the same level.

      • LMAO

  • Trying to Pause my subscription, when the box comes up to enter my PIN, it doesn't let me do anything. Anyone else getting this problem?

  • Can you watch any available movie with this? I tried but got 'DRM Error. You are not authorised to view this content.'

    never mind, works with Chrome!

    • for post

created account and tried to login . i think the site is ozbarganized.

Uh-oh! Presto has encountered a bit of a glitch
We are working hard to fix it, so you can try again in a few minutes or come back a bit later.

An AJAX HTTP request terminated abnormally.
    Debugging information follows.
    Path: undefined
    StatusText: error

    ReadyState: 0

    • I got that too went back changed my password and it worked I figure either I did a typo and they didn't match or the password wasn't to presto's liking(week), their website too dumb to give a useful error message

  • PRESTO SMS worked (on Telstra phone), sign-up worked, streaming movies worked (5 minutes ago)!

  • Awesome Thanks OP
    Worked for me!

Does anyone know if it's unmetered for Telstra customers? (https://support.telstra.com.au/t5/Manage/BigPond-unmetered-s…)
The telstra website says that it is "Unmetered sites let BigPond Broadband Members on ADSL, Cable or Mobile Broadband plans (excluding hourly plans) access downloads, video streams and editorial content without affecting their monthly usage limit"

But the text message that comes with the bonus code says Data Charges Apply :(

I'm currently only on mobile 4G while I wait for my phone line to be installed so I'm really hoping I can watch TV again

    • Don't worry, saw this
"Data charges apply for using Presto over any mobile network.
Use on a Telstra Home Broadband connection won’t count towards your data allowance. "
      During sign up :(

Is it just me or is anyone else having trouble signing in or signing up on presto.com.au? I tried on my phone and on Chrome as well as IE, it all directs me back to the home page without signing in…

    • Same here just worked then

  • Worked for me on Voda, thank you OP!

  • ye boiiii

  • +1

Thanks, looking for great Australian content now… like all those episodes of 'Chances' I didn't get to watch

    • Don't forget Paradise Beach and Pacific Drive :P

      • did those shows have good amount of nudity?

  • Happy! Thanks OP!

  • Thanks OP!

  • Yatango here, worked. Cheers OP!

    PRESTO not working for me
did you put in the code before or after sign up?

    • read instruction

SMS the word 'PRESTO' to 0498 500 400 and receive the special code

      • thanks got it working

  • Looks like I'll have to settle for watching Presto on my PC……the android app keeps crashing every single time, which explains why the app has such a low rating by those who downloaded it

    • Yeah might as well….Can you use Chrome browser and cast it to TV?

Maybe that's the ONLY option to get on TV as Android app stinks

      • +1

Not an option unfortunately. I can't see Presto being very competitive with such a lousy app

        • +1

Agree with you. Their Android app totally rubbish.

In fact I have not heard of Presto until now. Even being Free doesn't mean much if you can't even use it. Let alone ppl had to pay for it?

  • Thanks OP. Worked after few tries.

  • Just activated! Thanks OP!

  • Thanks OP!

  • Thanks OP. SMS took about 3 mins but got it working :-) Used prepaid card expiring in a month and worked like a charm ;)

  • Thanks OP. Worked brilliantly for me. About 1 minute to get the reply SMS with code. 2 minutes to sign up. A whole lot of free entertainment now for six months.

  • Thanks!

  • +1

worked for me but I cannot set my access to R 18+, anyone else have that issue?

    • continue the sign up process (without selecting R18+ -because you can't select it yet). Then find the adults only movie you want to watch and you'll need to enter our pin to access it. PIN needs to be entered each time you want to watch some semi-porn

      • +2

awww man, I can't wait that long to watch porn :-(

        thanks!

        • They don't have any porn and only a handful of R-rated movies (most so old that they'd be rated M these days).

  • anyone know if you can cancel straight away, and then the subscription continues for the 6 months? when when you cancel does it do it straight away (ie: you need to wait until 5.8 months is up before you cancel)?

    • I cancelled straight away and logged back in and it advises the end date of your subscription doesn't change regardless

      • I'm pretty sure if you cancel straight away your account gets cancelled at the end of that billing month.

    • +8

Says in the sign up process, cancel any time during the trial period, but service stops at the end of that month (that you cancel)

  • thanks op, worked

  • +1

Any way to add two or more codes?
    Stackability?

    • Guess you might be the one to try it.

      • Cant until tomorrow.
We already have it running or 3 months in from an earlier promotion.

  • brilliant! Thanks OP

    • +2

Cost of sms is negligible unles you have a rip off plan.

      You are doing it wrong.

  • worked, thanks!

  • +2

Thanks OP. Just got my first chromecast from the officeworks deal the other day. Perfect timing! On Telstra too as of a couple of months ago!!

Android app not compatible on Oneplus One unfortunately, but I'm sure I can work around that

    • wait, it's not compatible with my OPO? shoot.

install it on an older device, app backup and restore, transfer apk over using bluetooth or google drive, install and PRESTO

      • Not sure that'll work. Silly thing is you can install it from Google play, but when you open the app you get the "your device is not currently supported" display.

  • +1

Read this as 'Free Pesto' for 6 months. I was trying to work out why you would want 6 months worth of pesto…
Sent the SMS, waiting for it now.

  • I did this as well when I changed over my Telstra plan, Never used the codes because all the shows were crap…. if they end this deal PM me and i might be able to get you a code

  • Code came through too! thanks OP!

  • Worked, how long till this dies I wonder?

  • +1

    They got Curb Your Enthusiasm

  • worked, vodafone. thanks.

  • Ok own up, who reported this deal?

  • Thanks got my code! Now all we need reminder to cancel in 6 months.

  • Thanks. Now can someone remind everybody to cancel in 6 months before we all get charged?

  • Worked a treat!!!
    Thanks OP 😎

  • Code received, any one know if it stacks on the 30 day trial when you sign up? The message I received said "bonus 6 month subscription code". That said what if I use the misses mobile for a second code?

  • Presto has fair bit of content, but only SD and only 2 ch audio. Only good for watching on phones and tablets.

  • Thanks OP. Received code in a jiffy.

  • -2

Least is way better than netflicks and stan

  • Does this include data with Telstra mobile?

  • Only thing is their app is so poorly written it doesn't even work on my android box. Thinks there no connection when there's LAN.

  • So it sounds like a service you wouldn't want to use if it was free.

This is supposed to be the viable alternative to getting every show you like free and legally and at bitrates in excess of 15Mbit with zero cost or hassle according to Philosopher Prince of Broadband Malcom Turnbull.

  • Done..

  • Can I add this onto my existing free presto subscription?

    • Just create a new account :) simple right? :) using different email. done.

  • +1

Thanks very much, there doesn't appear to be a way to stack it with the one from march so I might just cancel that account and make a new one. Presto isn't that good, the quality is shit but the webplayer is reasonably good and their selection offers some stuff that netflix doesn't have.

I might regret wishing for a monopoly but I wish it would just fail already so that there's none of this exclusivity nonsense which makes our netflix library so much less awesome than the american one. I don't want to have to be paying for three subscription services just to get the same sort of range :(

    • The exclusivity nonsense is not the reason the range is worse - the US has plenty of exclusivity with Hulu and HBO Go having their own shows among many other streaming providers.

A more likely reason our library doesn't stack up is the fact that Netflix Australia only just launched so it hasn't had time to grow. Also the US has far more subscribers both per capita and in raw numbers than us meaning Netflix can afford to spend more on streaming rights there. (We have 1m subscribers with a population of 23m, they have 45m subscribers and a population of 320m)

      • There's got to be some component of exclusivity to it. For example, I love the warner bros cartoons on the american netflix (justice league etc.) but they aren't on the Aussie one. I think Channel 9 has the rights to these cartoons (they are played on GO) and I am sure that this presents a barrier to them being on netflix since Channel 9 might have an interest in another streaming product or an intent to bring one to market (or they just don't want to give netflix anything).

Do you really think that some of the stuff presto and stan get is not done with the intention to keep it exclusive to provide an advantage over netflix?

  • +2

So, my experience so far is that this is nowhere near as good as Netflix in terms of speed and quality, BUT THEY HAVE THE WIRE!

  • +1

Just signed up with the promo code and used one of those test CC number and guess what it worked… No need to worry about forgetting to cancel after 6 month is up.

    • Lol…care to share the test CC info?

  • Thanks OP! Got my code!

  • As someone said, it is not good as Netflix, but hey it is free for 6 months and it seems all movies are there. Only thing that I'm worrying is how difficult it would be to cancel my subscription after 6 months.

  • Can we cancel the subscription lets say tomorrow and keep using it till 6 Months? Like one months of Foxtel?

    • +1

If you cancel tomorrow, it cancels this month.

  • thanks OP!

  • Can you get away with using a cheap pre paid credit card? Like a load and go??
For when you want to sign up with a different email in 6 months

    Just a thought…..

  • +1

They'll be reporting record growth next month…

    • time to sell off the business!

  • Damn, signed up because someone earlier mentioned that it works on Samsung TV, but didnt check and it not on my 2010 model, only works with the following models.
    2012: E Series, All Sizes
    2013: F Series, All Sizes
    2014: H Series, All Sizes

Not compatible with my Samsung 7.7 tablet or the missus's Galaxy S3…

So now I need to figure out the best way to make use of it. Probably lie untouched for 6 months..
