I would say the exact opposite of that - Definately not 'too good to miss'. Crappy tripod + always trying to change between kit lenses as a newbie makes for a very ordinary learning experience. There is already free e-learning on the entire internet. There are a number of better ways to spend 1k if you're starting out.

get cheap deal on d3200 and invest on good lens, such as 35mm f/1.8G, 18-140 for zoom or even 17-55 f/2.8, flash such as sb600, remote and good tripod. You can upgrade your camera later and keep other accessories.
Nope. It does depend what you intend to shoot but body definitely counts. Unless all you're shooting is things that don't move that you have plenty of time to set up shots for, I'd be much more inclined to say save your money for a D5500 or better D7200 deal.
No one said this is a beginner's camera.
