  • can u get these on ebay for cheap? (non-katman brand)

    • +3

Probably, you can get everything on eBay, but most of them aren't reusable.

I guess you're mainly paying for the brand but 6 for $10 is a good deal

      • +2

        most of them aren't reusable

As long as they're filled with super saturated sodium acetate, they're reusable.

        • Bought 3 from ebay, can confirm.

      • I got a similar deal for these Kathmandu branded ones about 12 months ago. They work fine (output proper heat for about 45 minutes and stay warm for a couple hours) and they ARE reusable, but I have to say I'm not impressed with the quality.

We've used and re-heated ours no more than 10 times each, and now when we boil them they won't stay liquid afterwards. Once they cool, the liquid turns back to a viscous gel. And they don't seem to generate heat for as long as they used to.

My parents have similar large-size ones used for heat therapy on injuries, and they're still going strong after 7 or 8 years, with far more uses. These Kathmandu ones are clearly of an inferior quality.

It's a good thing they're cheap - I would never pay full price for them.

Bought two for $10 not too long ago. Very useful, but resetting them isn't easy when travelling. Might buy more, and reset them less often.

    Reusable Pocket Hand Warmers

    Most guys already have one…

    • +5

Good for keeping warm hands warm.. but as far as cold hands go I'd much rather something else heating them up than my sock starcher.

    • +6

But you don't have one jv. are you buying one?

    • Speaking from experience after testing a handful of them Vanessa? No good?

          angry boys…?

  • Ensure the Hand Warmer does not touch the inside of the pot when boiling, as this will cause the PVC pouch to melt.

Anyone that has these, do you put anything in the pot of boiling water to stop it touching the sides/bottom?

      my hands

      • Thanks!

      • Thanks. That solve my problem! Bought two for $9.99 in the weekend and was wondering how to reset it.

      • Far more practical is putting a plate in the base of the pot - no cloth to have to dry out. Just use whatever plate is the best fit for the base of your saucepan.

    • Put in a plastic steamer.

    • +1

not worth the hassle. As if you have to boil it to liquify the pack isn't inconvenient enough. I had a couple of these and let it touch the bottom of the pot when boiling it. I put it in after the water is boiling and wait about 5 mins. Did this 10 times and none of them got damaged. Still look and works like new.

  • Got them. 6 for 9.99 plus 4.8% cashback sounds pretty good. Will be using it this winter in Sydney as soon as I pick them up, it`s bloody cold!

  • +2

10 for $10. Im using some now. They work a treat!

    • +4

      Those are single use.

      • But they are 10 hour ones vs the Kathmandu 1 hour ones. Unless you end up reheating each one at least 10 times (unlikely for me, I am lazy), I know which type I'd prefer.

    • or from Daiso
      http://mydaiso.com.au/index.php/pocket-hand-warmers.html
Daiso pocket hand warmers: it's this winter's secret weapon. With up to 16 hours heat, just shake and pop into pockets for long-lasting warmth. Available in two sizes: mini (pack of 9) and large (pack of 7).

I know my mum buys them, I'm still using ones I bought last time I went Taiwan.
They're much more convenient than reusable ones…

    • I think Daiso is better, 9pcs for $2.80, and they last up to 16 hours.

Heard from a staff member that stores will be giving away samples on the weekend

  • +3

    or do one by yourself

  • How do you get 6 for $9.99? The site is saying 2 for $9.99. How do you get 3 for 1 offer?
    Thanks

    • +4

add 3 of the items to cart and automagically changes the price and applies the offer. i done stuffed up so had to re-order. luckily they have an easy change of mind policy for full refund.

      • Thanks, ordered. Although I am annoyed with their weibsite. I chose collect from WA, Inaloo and it kept popping up with $10 delivery fee. Other shops did not have this delivery fee. From memory, the same this happened with a previous order.

        • happened to me before too but just refresh the page, all will be good. delivery free will be waived to 0.

  • +4

these hand warmers will be a godsend. i used to just sit on my hands before and give myself the stranger when they went numb.

  • These types of warmers are awesome. Thanks for posting OP, good bargain.

  • +1

This only gave 1 hour of heat :(

    • +1

      more like 15 minutes

      • +2

My hand warmers last 12 hours. I have bought 4 from amazon and load it up with cheap Diggers Shellite from bunnings. I can take this outdoor and ignite it with a lighter.

How many refills can 1 litre do? Ive completely given up on these reusable heat packs because it's a pain to reset them, not to mention they don't get enough hot or stay hot for more than 20mins. Nowadays I use my knockoff Nitecore ea4 flashlight ($35 fasttech.com free shipping, probably cheaper on ebay) as the hand warmer! No mod needed !! I turn on highest output then put a plastic cap on to block the light. After about 10 minutes it becomes crazy hot ! 30 mins later it will burn my bare skin !!! Uses AA eneloops. Well shaped for holding too!! Best hand warmer I've ever used.

        • +1

          @hdieu: hundreds.

        • @hdieu:

I can't find the fake Nitecore ea4 on fasttech or eBay. The ones I've found are 69 or 100. Also it's 4 AA yea? Thanks!

        • @Zylam Marex: look at this post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/110909#comment-1508179 .I bought it thanks to this guy on ozbargain. It uses 4 AA batteries

  • Thanks, ordered.

  • Is it in-store as well?

    • +2

They dont have the same prices instore. Even if the stock is available, they ask for the order to be placed online and picked up later. Yup tried asking for the online price instore at emporium Melbourne.

    • Tried the same thing as hashtagbargain @ the store in Marion SA. Has to be placed online, and picked up later when the order is actually processed. It's still listed as $19.98 each in store.

    • Can confirm, tried this at Pitt St mall Sydney, they have to wait for it to get shipped in, even though they said the prices are exactly the same, the model may be different….(what a joke)… $20 for 3 in store

    • Tried instore too. 3 for 20, so needed to order online and pick up in a few days.

    • +1

I argued with them at the shop (Innaloo, WA) and I insisted them that its 9.99 finally I asked to see their supervisor and Supervisor finally agreed to give me that price after I showed him the price online / buy and collect. So he overwrote the price from 19.98 to 9.99 :-)

If anything you are not happy with always ask their Supervisor! Solved.

Just ordered, but forgot the cash back :(

Does anyone know why northland or unihill dont appear on the list of shops to pick up from?

  • Great find, mate! Awesome timing too. It's been effing cold in Melbourne!

or 9 (or 7) depending on pack for $2.80 at Daiso…

    • But is it reusable?

      • ah no they aren't. But for 2.80 for 9 much more convenient

  • Phoned up, got Kathmandu to honour the ultracore thermals deal at $25 posted the other day, added the hand warmers and then free shipping at $100

Only downside is the slow arse freight/shipping they use, (unlike surf stitch which is overnight shipping) they use a donkey or turtle.

    • how did you get them to honour the ultracore thermals after the sale finished? lol

      • Literally just phoned and asked.
Asked for the sale price of $25 each.
Got blue and cool grey in tops and blue and black in leggings.
Plus the $9.95 3for 1 hand warmers and $109.95 delivered.
Oh, and free summit club membership thrown in at same time…….

        • nice ok i'll try if i can do that tomorrow lol

i got that free summit club membership in the mail this week too

  • +1

Have you guys received an order confirmation email yet?
I only have the paypal receipt email.

    • Yeah I got confirmation from Kathmandu basically straight away

    • I haven't received an email and it's not in my order history. Time to call them up.

      • Yeah I checked my order history and it's not there either.
I already closed the page that had my order number after the paypal payment, dammit.

        • +1

Called Customer Service and they found my order. She said she was going to re-send the email…

        • @sween64:

Now I've been sent two at the same time, it might trigger yours to come through…

        • @sween64:
I just gave them a call too, they found my order and sent me two emails as well.
One is an order confirmation and the other is an invoice, almost identical though haha.

Thanks sween64, enjoy your handwarmers! :)

Edit: Oh just got another invoice email, so 3 emails in total now.

        • @unco:

I received two copies of the confirmation and invoice, four emails in total. Go figure!

  • Grabbed three sets - thanks OP - would have been great to have them tomorrow.

Even with store pickup I expect these won't be ready for the weekend.

Think orders are sent to stores rather than stores picking orders from stock.

    • Yes this is my experience. Ordered from Kathmandu and Amazon on the same day, and the goods both arrived on the same day notwithstanding the Amazon items came from New Jersey! (Took about 1 week)

  • Thanks OP, will be good while watching the local footy

  • Good Deal.

Are there any other items under 3 for 1 deal ??

  • How do you get click and collect to show up?

    • just continue with $10 delivery charges .. it will come up with option to pickup free from store

    • I couldn't find it on the mobile website (I didn't look very hard). I found it easier on the desktop website.

  • Awesome, I have Raynaud's disease so keeping my hands and feet warm in winter is a constant battle. Thanks OP!

  • Walked into the Bourke Street store in Melbourne hoping to pick these up in store. They were scanned at $9.99 and there was a sign there saying by 1 and get 2 free, but for some reason or another, the guy at the till wanted to charge me $20 for the three of them. After explaining the offer to him for a good 5 minutes and him not understanding it, I walked away and ordered online for an in-store pick-up. These look like a good size for keeping them in the inside of a jacket pocket as well.

  • I guess I was the only one bought in store and got 9.99 $ price for 3 of them?

  • I have these from some other brand. Got warm briefly and cold after about 15 mins. Too much effort to boil.

  • Thanks OP, ordered on Friday!

Will I get an e-mail when its ready for pick up in store? My order still says 'processing'

    • You will get an email with notification about your order being sent to the store via courier. Then one for pick up ready.

      • Cool, thanks for that.

Damn thing still shows as processing from Friday…

  • When I add 3 to my cart, they come up to be 19.98, the discount is only 9.95. How do I get 3 packs for the $9.99 price?

    • Looks like it's not working now, even though it still says 3-for-1 on the page.
Maybe it's going to change to buy 2 get 1 free soon.

  • might as well spend more for a usb handwarmer.I got a usb handwarmer back in 2011 from dx.(This was when the exchange rate was much better almost $1AUD=$1USD) Also doubles as a powerbank. Its still going strong in 2015.Very happy with the purchase. Also brought a 3 zippo handwarmers.Bit of a pain to refill but it lasts over 15 hours.
Ooh and ps i brought a 2 pack handwarmer from Chemist Warehouse for $2.They arent rechargable and dont warm up very much. The product isnt on the website but there were plenty at Chemist Warehouse Bankstown
Also can make your own handwarmer

  • Just got them. Seem to be not working. Do you have to boil them the very first time?

    • +2

These have a little activiation 'disk' right? If they are ready to use, they will be liquid. Once activated they will heat and become crystalline. (this is based on knowledge of other similar products, haven't got mine yet).

      • Yes, liquid with disk. How do you activate them?

        • +1

You should just have to flex the disc a little.

        • @unco:
          Thanks. I'll try that.

  • Has anyone manage to pickup 3 for 1 after purchase online? There isnt much in the invoice that says 3 for 1 at $9.90

    • The invoice I got in my email says:
      Subtotal $29.97
      Discount (Hand Warmers 3 for 1) -$19.98
      Grand Total (Incl.Tax) $9.99

      • Oh…I think I made a mistake. I should have bought 3 but I bought 1….
        damn. this is so confusing!!

    • Picked up my order tonight. At the counter there's a sign saying 4 for 1 for the hand warmer, but it's selling for $19.98.

Work out our order online gives the best deal of $3.33 per pack vs the $5 per pack now.

      • no success for me. The person insisted that the deal was 1 for 3 at $19.99 or 1 for $9.90.

so I just asked for a refund. No energy to for arguments.

  • +1

The website now says 4-for-1 however when you attempt to buy four it uses the RRP of $19.98 instead of the discounted $9.98.

    • Yeah I saw the same thing - but it says it in the information section that it's based on the Regular Price:

4 Day Deals: Hand Warmers 4 for 1 - Activate this deal by placing 4 Hand Warmers into your cart.

This offer is not available in conjunction with any other offer. It is based on the Regular Price and does not include Summit Club Pricing. While stocks last. Please note, discount taken off lowest priced item(s). Don't forget, to activate this deal, please place 4 of the items into your cart and the offer will be processed at the checkout

  • I'm set to pick up my purchase tonight (for 3for1 though) Will see how I go.

  • They say they have 4 for 1 now, but when I put it in the cart it only seems to be 2 for 1 pricing. If someone really wants them they might want to chase this up.

  • Collected mine and compared to my other random eBay ones they are not as warm, when activated the solution is still malleable where as my eBay ones go turn solid and are too hot to hold unless they are in their fabric pouches. No fabric pouches are provided for these from Katmandu and they were cold within the hour.
