PRICECONTROL

Hi

I noticed after applying the coupon above the EA8 works out to be 73.94 USD. I thought the coupon is meant to be 10% off?

Not sure if it is such a good deal after conversion rate but I think its quite cheap seeing as Amazon price is $90 USD+

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before. I can only find a deal for the EA4.

Edit:

Ez found the same torch cheaper here:

I never bought anything from them so I can't say if they are good or not.
If you want the warm light version Fasttech has them.

This small torch is the best for size, price and performance

I take it swimming underwater and with the gopro at night

although i dream about this torch

    • oh no I wish you had never posted this. I have been so happy with my EA4 but now TORCH ENVY

    • I bought the EA4W. Warm white. Better when raining and in your case, swimming?

      • hey why is the warm version better for rain and swimming

        • More glare I think but I'm not really that sure.

After getting the EA4 W I prefer warm white.

        • Same reason why 6000k HID's suck in rain/fog during daytime…lack of contrast…

As above this is the EA4:
      http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10001842/1209201-nitecore…
      Thats $69

But if you really want to save some money it seems NiteCore have sold surplus torches, these seem to be genuine as you can even see inside the tailcap one says Sysmax (they make NiteCore and JetBeam). I'm positive they are the same torch but unbranded.

      This one is $35:
      http://www.fasttech.com/products/1/10005103/1400606-cree-xm-…

      And ths one is $30:
      http://www.fasttech.com/products/1/10005163/1404707-ultrafir…

Use the code BLF to get 5% off the above prices

I bought both recently and have also bought the original EA4W in the past as well. The one in the bottom link come to about $28 UDS with the discount, less than half of what I paid for the branded one. It also has a revised rubber boot as the NiteCore ones had a problem with bubbling and popping due to temperature differences and poor quality rubber for its intended use.

      • I guess the $30 one is a little different as it has only 5 modes instead of 8.

        • I think could be a error, it also says its 4xAAA which is also confirmed as wrong by one of the employees as its 4xAA like the others. They also had the same errors on the $35 one before it was brought to the customer services attention and they change it. I can ask them to confirm but I probably won't get a reply until Monday.

      • ezarc, this might be asking too much but do either of those lights have programmable modes? not a fan of strobe/sos modes, i would remove them permanently! ultra lo/med/hi is all i need

        • The EA4 has a hidden strobe and SOS, meaning you don't have to cycle through them to get to any of the other modes.

I assume the 2 unbranded ones are the same but I can't confirm 100% until I receive them and I believe nobody else has any yet as they are too new.

Also you could ask customer service to open one and try it, they have excellent customer service there.

      • I ordered two of the $30 ones and am a little disappointed. I don't have an EA4 on me to compare to directly so will do that tonight but so far have found these are not up to the EA4 standard. I'm tempted to buy the $35 as this seems to operate like the EA4 but I suspect from the photos that the finish is the same as this one.

Is it good value? Hard to say as the EA4 has been IMO one of the best torches I've purchased and the three of them that I own are used on a regular basis.

But unfortunately they do not appear to be made by nitecore unless these are factory seconds but this doesn't explain the lack of branding on the rear caps pcb, the poor finishing, the blobs of solder on the contacts etc.

        The good

The button does not illuminate with the voltage or beacon but I expected this and as they were earmarked for the cars this is desirable and this isn't a feature I use or care about on the EA4's (but maybe I should learn to read the display).

The modes are different, from my quick play this morning when you turn the torch on it comes on in low power mode and each half press ramps this up to maximum before turning off. A quick press at any time puts the torch into a strobe mode (not too fast or too slow - just right) and a long press when you turn it on puts it straight into high power mode. I don't think there is a memory. I always forget how to use the modes properly on the EA4.

        The bad

One of the torches as soon as the back was unscrewed has the o-ring snap (or it was already broken), the o-rings don't appear to be good quality.

The photos of the rear cap on the fasttech web page are not the rear caps you receive which are similar but use a cheaper set of pins, the soldering on the two springs are not as nice and for some reason they have added blobs of solder to the + contacts (and inside the torch as well) which means it's harder to tighten down as the springs have to compress more. I also question the longevity/reliability of this method compared to having the copper contacts.

The rear cap doesn't fit as easily as the EA4, this is partially due to the pins and the poor finishing around the holes in the end of the torch.

    Macgyver wouldn't need this

He would make his own from scrap metal and old CRT televisions

P.s. Congrads on your first post

    • This can light up up to 400meters according to the Nitecore site.

It can also take a bit of a beating. Gives out a constant 900 lumen blinding light unlike the $1 torch which will dim very fast.

      • +3

You clearly know nothing about torches

        • Dosada, macgyver always knows what he's talking about.
Haven't you watched the show ?

        • -2

I wouldn't say that. Try to get a proper flashlight for less and you will see what you will end up with. Depends of course also on what you need it for.

        • +1

You clearly have never watched macgyver

    I love my EA4….

Up until this point, I thought that was the best torch I'd ever own.

    Now this.

no memory and no regulator make this price unacceptable!

    • then what would you recommend that has those features at this price level?

  • Is there a good deal for the EA4 somewhere?

    • +2

With the coupon it is $53.00. Just last month ago or so with the coupon it was $46.

I don't think it is much cheaper then that any where else.

  • The couplon appears to be about 28.2% off rather than 10%. Strange percentage.

  • $68.59 here
    http://www.buyincoins.com/item/31966.html

You can add that to the first post if you like OP.

    • Geez that's cheap. Wonder how they got them at that price.

No warm light version I can see on the site.

  • Dosada:

    http://www.cnqualitygoods.com/goods.php?id=1708

Buy one of those, stick 4x 18650's in it then try to tell me it's not a "proper flashlight"

Back to the OP, this is up there with the best AA powered flashlights out there.

    Thanks OP.
    Ordered EA4.
I bought Nitecore TM26 when it was much cheaper - $289 with charger & batteries.
    That torch is amazing!
I knew it's bright, but when I got it- holly shit!
The quality is spot on too, brilliant torch, can't recommend it enough.
    Now looking forward to EA4.

    • So jealous, I'd love to buy that beasty torch

  • ok bit late to the discussion here but for the subscribers. XinTD torches haven't been mentioned on ozbargain before. Some specs up, very high quality for less.
