I just picked up an insight from dick smith an hour ago.
How much was it daveaus? According to http://www.techguide.com.au/news/gadgets-news/belkin-launche… RRP will be $99 :(
It was $99 but they have 10% off in store today so $90.
Its in the current dick smith catalogue.
I have played around with the insight a little bit and I really like it.
I hope they improve the app.
@daveaus: Thanks for the response daveaus. $90-99 is a bit too rich for me.
@jtb: Yeah I won't be buying another one. I did have one of these turn up today as well and it seems like a reasonable alternative if you don't mind a half translated app.

I'd need to spend some more time with it before I decide if I will buy more.
@daveaus: im also waiting for mine to arrive plus I've ordered the Xiaomi smart air purifier too.
Do these have all the same functionality as the wemo? Ie - timers and seamless remote switching? Also thinking of investing in the smart home hub too but can't think off a use for it.
@allergic2work: It seems to work alright. I will need to play with it some more, the app shows a timer which I haven't tried yet. There is no widget which is a disappointment, what do you mean seamless remote switching?
I have one of these on the way as well.
@daveaus: As in the wemo app just simply works regardless of wifi or 3G and as a result has a very high wife acceptance factor.
Not sure I could convince her to tolerate a crappy app to control devices. Plus wemo has IFTT compatibility, not that I have enough wemo yet to start using.
You are going to be disappointed with both the wemo app and IFTTT. I don't control stuff over 3g at all but I just tried it and it worked for one out of my two wemo devices.
Rather than using the belkin app I use this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mpp.android.we… it seems to work significantly better and includes widgets which also work consistently (unlike Belkins app and IF). I believe you can set it up so it works remotely and also with tasker but I haven't set those features up yet.
Where did you order the smart air purifier from?
Maybe we should start a home automation thread.
@daveaus: But no Insight light switch. Strangely whilst it is in the catalogue it doesn't show when you do a search on their website. $99- is a bit rich as well.
Whoever down voted me needs to have a look at the current dick smith catalogue.
Was not me.
It doesn't show the option for home delivery (but does show postage quote), and doesn't look like any store in Vic has stock. Anyone get anything different?
Any easy way to tell if this will be compatible with current wiring prior to getting the sparky out?
Also annoying that they are vertical, most new places have horizontal face plates :(
How many lights can you control with one switch?
The WeMo switch replaces the existing wall switch… So would only control one set of lights…. As far as the number of bulbs…. According to the Belkin site it's rated at Max 1800W. (not sure if there would be a difference for Aus specs).
Had a look on Belkin's website but do they make these without the use of a smart phone. Eg cobtrolled with a remote?
Temp outta stock.
Do i need someone to install these or can i DIY?
I grabbed one of these on eBay, about $40 cheaper than everywhere else.

The Wemo App is seriously crap. There are better alternatives out there. Watch out for any App or firmware updates, these mess with your setup.
Australians having been waiting something like 18 months for the Insight version of these to come. Belkin said it would be last year but still hasn't happened.
There is a recent announcement of an Insight switch soon, but given Belkins previous form I wouldn't hold my breath.
