If you read the reviews sounds pretty poor, one customer paid $149 a year ago

    http://www.productreview.com.au/p/philips-easystar.html

Bangs into everything, runs out of battery, gets stuck, can't map areas very well

Mixed reviews. Seems like $150-$200 is the normal selling price so not sure this is a great deal.

  • Are there good decent robo vac cleaners out there that can also mop ?

    • +1

irobot scooba I think, or the irobot brava

    Do they suck?

    • -2

      Can they blow?

    • Badly. But not in the way you want it to.

  • This looks similar to the Aldi model, but the Aldi one at least comes with a 60 day return policy no questions asked! :)

    • and a 3yr warranty. I bought one 35 days ago and haven't taken it back yet.

  • It was cheaper last year at COTD.

I got one. Faulty. Brought it back, got another one. Fallen apart on a day one. Brought it back, got my money back. End of story.

      And, cool story.

  • I got one about 18 months ago from Harvey Norman when it was $159.

It is crap.. It does not work on any type of carpet (even low pile). It bumps into things . It has no real intelligence what so ever.

Battery is ok. It would be ok for the kitchen area if there are tiles/wooden floor with NO obstacles.

It has been cheaper and probably NOT worth more than $150 …

  • so what is the best reasonably priced (under $~800) robot vacuum and where do i get it!

    • +1

      Neato

    • Yeah, agree Neato. The price hovers around $600-900 depending on model. I have had the early models XV15 and XV21 which are great and really do a good job cleaning the bedrooms etc. Works even better in the family area with hardwood floors. Have replaced the batteries and the damn thing keeps on going.
Recently got a Neato Botvac 85 which I have yet to use. They have also recently updated the model line with D75 and D85 which is just an updated Botvac.
Anyhow, good units. Early models were a little haphazard on quality control but I got both from Amazon US (Can't do that any more sadly) and got lucky.
As for the others, I hav't tried the Roombas or the higher level Samsungs/Panasonics.

      • Damn how many of these things do you own haha.

Thanks for the advice where is the cheapest place in Oz to generally get them from

        • Usually from the US via amazon is half the price of aus stock.

        • @altomic:

I don't care if it's half price. I'm not letting an ISIS robot loose I my house.

        • @altomic: Unfortunately AMAZON doesn't post to Australia any more. Its a shame because I got my last two Neatos from there and had no issues . (Had to change the power cable but thats not an issue).

As for the cheapest in Australia there are a few online retailers like Ozrobots

        • @soupratt: yeah, rarely do amazon ship to aus. otherwise use a forward shipper. I used shipito when I bought my xv-21

  • In I met a lady who lived in my street, who would vacuum our apartment at midday, every day for $20 a week.
Figured 1st gen robot vacs would blow more than suck! I was right!
Now for $1040 I can buy a good robot vac!
One day I make my wife happy and bite the bullet!
